Apparently, in response to Jose Been's questioning of this being healthy, Michelle Froome called Jose obese (according to twitter, Been gained weight because of cancer treatment) and Chris Froome blocked Jose Been. Classy.

Oh how I missed Michelle. Requires a lot of effort to be the least likeable Froome.

UCI has made a decision on max team size for next season: 7 regular, 8 in Grand Tours for every team. Thus they react on the demand of ASO, RCS and Flanders Classic who already intended to implement the new max team size this season already.

Wow, a change that should help a lot of crash problems and such, but one that I couldn't see actually happening given the tradition of 9 riders in a GT. Changes quite a bit of history going forward, though race impact shouldn't be too much except for teams that bring GC guys and sprinters.

It'll help racing, but possibly hurt young talents and domestiques who will have to fight even harder for race days or will be cut altogether.

On the other hand, it could help cycling races survive as the bigger teams have riders who are free or not too tired from other races to compete in races the team might not have of competed previously.

Already expecting the big ol' laughing stock Portuguese team managers trying to find any loose ends to that rule so they can make an exception at the Volta a Portugal. |

Team sizes definitely hasn't been killing off races, rather the growth of competition in a market place making it harder to attract sponsors. Having Movistar's spare riders turn up in form doesn't suddenly sell your race to sponsors.
It does make life harder for domestiques, especially with no changes to the WT licenses coming that soon. Talents will always find a way, teams still want to get the best riders in as soon as they can. But those hard working fringe riders will feel the pinch.
Might boost their interest in going PCT to get attention though, which could be good.
Overall, eh. 1 rider won't suddenly change the complexion of bike racing in the WT. And i doubt we'll see less crashes.

Good to see Cookson gone but not sure if Lappartient is really what cycling needs. Probably the end of ASO-UCI conflicts I think though

Wow, not really expected. Lest we forget how everyone was pulling for Cookson to get in, now it's the opposite.

Everyone wanted Cookson because it wasn't McQuaid. Now it's everyone wants Lappartient because it's not Cookson.

Thank god Cookson is gone. He'd have been the death of small races.

I'd love for it to be replaced by a National Teams TTT! Did feel slightly odd to have a random trade team TTT at the Worlds, an entirely national team affair. But i think it's a great event and something really cool, especially as TTT's arn't common in big races otherwise.

I agree, shouldn't have been there in the first place and it's time for a national teams tt,
