Actually my mistake you can look at the splits still via the "View Race Details" button on the live site.

Looks like Dennis climbed quicker than Froome and only lost 11 seconds to Dumoulin which is slightly surprising, especially after a crash #andrenaline

Hahah, no, everybody behaved. It was only 2 or 3 situations like that. What a day tho, just good vibes from 10 to 18 Banana

And, when Vangstad came up the climb - holy cow it exploded. The same for Hansen, the Dane, it was crazy.

The most noise was when Eddy rode up, and ofc, Froome and Dumoulin

It was packed, and the atmosphere was insane!

Not quite Indurain-esque, but very Ullrich, Armstrong and Cancellara-esque. Please bring a LONG time trial in the Tour again

Nelson Oliveira, my man, what a pity he missed the medal to Froome, but this has to be an impressive and remarkable result after a difficult season dealing with injuries. Smile

The route was too short to be Indurain-esque. And the rain didn't help either, he had to take it easy. He even said that on the first part of the final climb he had to freewheel because he had no grip in the hairpins on the TT bike with dry weather tyres.

So, anyone here excited for the U23 RR tomorrow?

https://www.cyclingmagazine.de/2017/09...niorinnen/
(startlist on a German site but just scroll down)

No Bernal, Hamilton, Dunbar on the startlist appear to be the biggest omissions from a quick check, while Kämna and Garcia Cortina are the only WT riders to make use of the recently implemented rule (lots of stagiares though, obviously).

Will the climb be hard enough to break up the race and the climbers like Lambrecht, Schlegel, Foss, Hindley/Storer, Powless or Pogacar keep a gap to the finish against a disorganized chase?
Will the hybrid riders like Sivakov/Strakhov, Kämna, Riabushenko, Eenkhoorn or Greegard Wilsly/Asgreen smell an opportunity in the run-in or take gold from a reduced group?
Or will the tougher sprinters like Philipsen, Garcia Cortina, Hodeg, Albanese or Benjamin Thomas hang on to sprint it out?
In an easy race, even riders like Halvorsen, Jakobsen, Kanter could remain in contention.

Just my two cents which accidentally have covered nearly half of the startlist now (while probably still missing the winner), but I'd love to have a discussion before and during the race to hear your opinions.
Certainly a much anticipated race to figure out how difficult the course really is, and simply because these could be the riders defining the 2020s in many areas.

Too bad VO2MAX Gaudu is not starting. I had hoped for him with that rule change.

I'd put my money on a norwegian if matt were to open a bet. They are so competitive at this age but not real insight into who is capable, maybe Halvorsen since he rocked Avenir pretty well. But taking the norwegian's karma, it will probably be a dane.

Since I didn't see a startlist at PCS, I look at the CN forum:

Kamna and Garcia Cortina having ridden the Vuelta is such a huge advantage.

Anyway it will be an epic podium:

3. Sivakov 2. Riabushenko and 1.

I'd say you're underestimating Halvorsen on climbs. Pedersen is probably my biggest favourite for a move in the final five kilometers (on the other hand he has stated he'll go for the sprint if Carbel is gone), together with Kämna, as it's a fairly technical run-in. At least it makes the chances to stay away greater.

Suspect it will be difficult to make huge differences on the hill, but then there's also the three kilometers leading up to the official climb, also climbing some height meters. The climb itself on a sunny day shouldn't be too complicated for riders like Halvorsen.

But the weather will be a factor tomorrow. There will be rain, and possibly quite a lot of it.

I'd say a late move after the climb on the final lap is my favourite for the win, as there shouldn't be too many domestiques left after a demanding race.

And as Spilak23 says, pro riders really should have an advantage, and Kämna could well do the final kilometers solo.

But anyway, it's definitely a race that's very hard to predict, especially as the course hasn't been raced before in a proper race. Looking forward to it. A lot!

Halvorsen is 5kg lighter then normal to be sure to at least have a chance to handle Salmon Hill. It will most likely rain tomorrow aswell.
