Froome is gonna be the first person to do the Tour Vuelta double in how long?
Theres a reason Clen-tador couldnt do it, because he was doping and we all know this incredible feat can only be done clean

Yeah Froome the clean champion who does 500 watts on 15 minute ascends in his 2nd GT in a row. magnificent.
Anyway. Glad Kelderman is keeping up the good form, seems to be improving even
but monster climbs to come. I expect major carnage on los muchachos and angliru |

We just need to pray that someone will be able to drop Froome there (at least Nibali or Wilco). But They are not good at steep gradients whereas Froome with his cadence pedaling is

I know. Kelderman even said so last week that, while he like the short steep climbs and long shallow climbs, he doesn't like steep climbs that last longer than 2/3km..
Nibali doesn't like em either
I'm not even sure Miguel Angel Lopez likes them, as he seems to have a bit of a bulky build for a colombian climber.
Leaves Chaves, who is already 6 minutes behind and not in topshape.
And Zakarin didn't do well on blockhaus (9/10% for long time) either. So I'm not sure the fight wil lcome from him either.
It looks kinde hopeless |

Honestly, I was quite disappointed too since he beat Froome, Zakarin and Kelderman back in Romandie.

Well, the TT in Romandie was hillier and shorter. I imagine Kamna must have a very good power output for shorter efforts and must improve his resistance and energy management over longer distances. |

Why should this be ironic? I am simply championing a clean rider that everyone should look up to and adore, he performs heroics that no doped rider can achieve and will cement his legacy as the greatest rider alive.
The success of Froome just highlights that we are in a clean era of the sport and that makes me happy

Well, the TT in Romandie was hillier and shorter. I imagine Kamna must have a very good power output for shorter efforts and must improve his resistance and energy management over longer distances.
Besides the sarcasm in my post, just from the physiology I would actually assume that his long-distance effort should be better.
If we use the natural comparison of Kämna vs Schachmann, Kämna's 5kg lighter and likely relies more on aerodynamics than Schachmann who looks more like the standard power-type TTer with nice calves and a strong acceleration (which makes the latter's neo-pro climbing efforts even more impressive).
Therefore, longer and less technical TTs should suit Kämna more. The German TT was hopefully just a bad day.
Obviously, body type is just one of many aspects in the magical world of cycling, and I'm far from being an actual expert, but Kämna most certainly doesn't strike me as a prologue rider first and foremost.
There's no doubt though that a 20-year-old cyclist has a lot of space to grow in the resistance and energy management area.

I'd like to see him have a go at the Giro - Tour - Vuelta treble, instead of these little efforts in controlled succession.

Kämna is a very powerful rider for his weight he can sprint relatively well and is quite capable of sustaining long efforts.
He is very comparable to Kelderman in my opinion, he came arround with the same age with very similar abilities, and their physical stature is very simillar (and ideal for a climber/time-trialist).
Also noteworthy that beeing able to ride like this in the third week of an incredibly hard Vuelta only aged 20 appears to be another weapon on the deck.

To be fair, many of his decent sprint results rather come from being in the mix in the first place, fighting for a lower Top 10 result when you know you can't challenge for the win isn't a thing many riders do.
It does really feel that he always fights for even just a couple of spots if it looks good on the results page (as long as it's not a dangerous mass sprint), a sign of a motivated young rider which is worth a lot too. If 7th on the stage is the best he can manage, he will still try to get 7th.
(I'm basing this on the very rainy Romandie stages 2 and 3 and the Catalunya stages 6 and 7)
On the other hand, his leadout work has been very decent at a couple of occasions indeed. Last year's U23 WC comes to my mind as well as a stage in this year's Tour of Fjords, where he led into the very fast last K and even managed to achieve small gaps on the line after the first 20ish riders.

Fingers crossed. Furthermore, having Dumoulin in the team will help massively with the task of retaining the TT ability while improving his climbing. Nobody better to learn from in the peloton.

Indeed. Except for his break and stage 11, he saved his climbing legs for this TT and just to make it to Madrid though.

Also you have to take the change of wind into account, since Kämna rode in strong annoying sidewind and best GC guys had tailwind. So who knows maybe he could challenge even top5 with different windy conditions.

Last one is most important one. It looks hopeless, some one will get 20-30 sec. back. That's it. |

Absolutely agree. There wont be any comeback. Simply Froome and SKY are too strong for everybody. Froome may only lose this if he crashes or get a puncture and the change will take like Cadel Evans` change in la Vuelta 2009 Btw thats why Evans didnt win that Vuelta in 2009
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.
