Great to see that Lopez is the best climber in this race, which isnt a surprise really since almost all have had a full GT already

Froome`s kind of riding really is most boring way...unfortunately also the most successful way.
Would love if more riders would go the instinct way instead. Much more enjoyable as spectator.
Yeah, they should really just ban powermeters in races because at least that would limit Froome's ability to be dull a little bit.

Shame about the time lost in the first week
Still with a real chance to finish on the podium here.

It wasn't really exciting. Sky had the control all the time. Even when Nibali and Contador attacked I never felt excited because you could see Sky was keeping it on a tight leash. Too bad.
Especially too bad that Lopez is so far behind, he seems to be the only one who can really gain some time on the Sky train. But even that is limited, plus that TT will do him in.
Meh. Nibali must invent something else. Attacking on the final climb will never work. |

Sky have invented a new way of riding cycling that, while in spots does bring some excitement, it just dulls the racing with these "science" tactics. And at the end of the day, cycling should be about pure physical condition and stamina and not based off on what numbers tell you.
Nevertheless, their intel and methods are in a completely different level compared to the rest. They just seem to be Merckxing up Moscon, how the hell did he just suddenly start to ride like this in the high mountains. It's a remarkable preparation, for sure, but Sky just seem to drain the emotions from Grand Tours with their unique riding.
To shake things up we'd need another Formigal scenario, but even that is highly unlikely. Even if they got caught up behind, they would simply rejoin in a blink of an eye. However, Froome doesn't look as fresh as he did a week ago, so it's something Nibali will have to explore, hoping the powermeter doesn't freshen up the Brit's legs. |

Admittedly Moscon was super talented as an U23 back in 2015, 4th in the WC, 2nd in the prologue and 2 other top 10s on stages in Avenir before abandoning, 2nd in U23 RVV... so it's not that surprising that he is a very strong rider, he's just taken a very very big step this Vuelta and the sudden mountains potential is something only Sky could give you.

This is sad to watch races like this.
Riders has done that before:
Indurain..dominating TT's later climbing he's own tempo. But he did had numbers running front of him. He was capable to produce some fun surprises.
Giro winner Dumoulin..same stuff. Be some how he is not boring to watch.
Sky powermeter climbing just makes sad.. and you will lose hope that excitement will return at all.
Like ruben did say..we need more than last 5km. attack to fuck up this computer thing.
we need Bertie madness to mess up that sky ice castle. |

Indurain and Dumoulin had more vulnerable teams (although Indurain not that bad). Sky is just .. too good |

As Nibali said straightforward. If Froome is alone he can be pretty easily in difficulties. Do not take "pretty easily" literally but you know what I mean. They are riding against SKY. Not only Froome. Nibali said They need to beat SKY rather than Froome in one in one battle. And considering SKY's budget and Froome top shape its actually impossible. What you can hope for when you see Moscon on that gradients for instance. I would say that Pantano will stay longer than Moscon. But what the fuck? I am really pesimistic because when I see such things I have thoughts like there must be sth suspicious and illegal. Or SKY are so genious in their climbing training methods? This is so frustrating to see. Because GC contenders are pretty equal but its their teams what matters and make difference
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Pantano is almost useless for Contador in the high mountains, same at the tour. He seems really out of shape |
