The Cannondale-Garmin merger was a mistake on the part of Vaughters. May have seemed a good idea at the time, but as soon as Sagan left they just had the Garmin team plus a few Cannondale squad members. Then Martin and Hesjedal left and eventually it was just Uran, Vanmarcke, Rolland, Phinney and a PCT- standard team.

With Cannondale's death, we have eleven more free riders.
→ Brendan Canty
→ Hugh Carthy
→ Joe Dombrowski
→ Sebastian Langeveld
→ Taylor Phinney
→ Pierre Rolland
→ Andrew Talansky
→ Rigoberto Uran
→ Tom van Asbroeck
→ Dylan van Baarle
→ Sep Vanmarcke
There are some great deals in this list, especially for the cobbled races. It is possible that teams like Quick-Step or Lotto Soudal take one or two of these riders to reinforce their teams. |

Axeon is a development team. They want to be PCT only so they can ride California again. They have no interest in those riders and no budget even if they were interested |

They are crowd funding now, so not dead in the waters yet!

Wonder where Uran will end up |

My best guess would be one of the Middle East teams.

UAE and Bahrain already have leaders - Aru and Nibali. My best guess is Astana

Glad they will, they're both very talented climbers and Caja Rural is a much better place to develop than Wilier unfortunately.

Uran already signed with Astana.
But the contract is only valid if Cannondale can't find the money by September 10th. |

Lel, Sky is taking all the U23's over. This is ridicolous. |

With Bernal as well it looks like Sky will just try to win everything there is for the next 15 years in the mountains

On one hand it sucks to see so many big talents going this way. Then again seeing how cycling is working financially, it`s probably their savest way to develop pretty much knowing there will still be money for them in 2-3-4 years time.
Too many teams suddenly have to give up due to financial problems the way the money is been rewarded at the moment. |

Sky is not extremely good at developing talents - understandably too, their team is too good to have them as leaders or have free roles in any races - so there's a chance that most of the youngsters they're signing won't live up to their hype.
Which yeah, is kinda sad, since the last 3 they've signed are some of the most exciting prospects of the last years.
