With or without Cav the team's situation is the same - last year they were again dead last - behind IAM and Giant (who have way better 2017 as Sunweb thanks to Dumoulin, Barguil and Matthews). Now they are again 18th with nearly 1200 points behind FDJ (Madiot should relagate the team to PCT if he keeps moan too much about the WT structure). Even Bora who up til this point were PCT are doing better (but that's just the power of SAGAN).
Dimension Data needs to do more than they are doing now on the transfer market, because 2018 will be too little, too late for them. Next year there will be a battle royale for out of contract riders, because with the WT reducing its teams to 17 for 2019. And with that the lower tier WT teams and the top PCT teams or new projects will try to collect as many points as they can get to secure WT license for 2019 (mind you that the whole Purito to Bahrain BS was just because they needed his UCI points and nothing else)
Meintjes can take a top five GC in one of the 3 week races. Also compete in the ardennes. Slagter shown the same in the Ardennes. Edvald who resurrected mid season last season will take more points and aim for SanRemo and the other classics. Cav (hopefully) in top shape will add them almost double the points from this season. I would say it looks allot better than the start of this season.
New York Knicks - Bardiani CFS - AG2R - Millwall FC - Le Havre AC

great post.
Purito Bahrein stunt was just lame. UCI points system should be changed. It messes up transfers and pro tour license order. |

TVG has extended with BMC for another year. What up with them, they would have finally got rid of him. So close, BMC

According to PCS, Ben Hermans and Ruben Plaza will ride for Cycling Academy in 2018. They should, consequently, be present for the 2018's Giro.
According to PCS too, Boris Vallée will ride for Wanty in 2018. A great opportunity for the team to replace Kenny Dehaes.
Silvan Dillier to AG2R, probably the most important transfer of the day : https://www.lequi...ale/828147 (fr) |

Good, I hope that means we see Plaza going into breaks again and Ben Hermans is a real big name for them imo

Exactly, and the team mainly rides in Belgium or Spain (respectively 11 and 8 races for the moment). → https://www.procyc...per-nation
Cycling Academy also takes part to the canadian classics where Hermans is able to perform. |

A potential new backer has pulled out and there's a need for 7 Million $ in order to keep the team on competitive level.
This explains their passive transfer policy now. They have so many financial issues that many of their riders (Bettiol, Formolo, Villella, Koren and Slagter) choose to look elsewhere. And even Uran's new 3-year deal lingers on the financial insecurity of Slipstream. Speaking of Uran Cyclingnews reports that the Colombian is in talks with Astana (who at 99.9% will lose Fabio Aru to UAE-Emiraites) as Plan-B.
If Cannondale-Drapac folds what will happen to the remaining riders?

This is really terrible news, I hope there's a miracle somewhere in here.

OH. That's some big news. Indeed that explains why they wern't active so far and have lost some good names. I hope they find something. I love to poke fun at Cannondale and Vaughters and I can't do that when they are not around, so get that money from somewhere, JV. Hoping for the best.

They've announced Oath (subsidary of Verizon), which initially was tought to be the "new major backer", but it seems that their investment would be minor in the team. So who is the mystery backer?
Now JV needs to presuade Cannondale, Drapac, Oath and POC (their only partners who remain loyal) to increase their funding which IDK if it will work. For sure it'll probobly fill some budget holes, but not enough. Also I wonder how commited is Cannondale to the team? After all they've dissolved the Italian-based Brixa Sports to join forces with JV

Anyway, Vaughters need 7 millions for a WT team. What if they go to PCT for one year, and thanks to the new rules, have the chance to choose what WT races they want to ride?
