a great power sprinter, surely an asset for the future, either being a lead-out sprinter/powerhouse or becoming a sprinting classics captain in the future

Have they been rumoured to sign anyone good yet? They were offering millions to Purito and Boonen last year. Surely they'll use that money to sign someone good.

Hermann Pernsteiner is a great signing for Bahrain, he surely has the potential to be a WT rider and offers some amazing potential for his age. I bet he'll win a Giro mountain stage until 2019, perfectly made for it.

Pernsteiner is a very interesting rider, although I would've preferred to see him at a more likeable team.

He was purely a MTBer up until last year, riding well in marathon races and well-known stage races like Cape Epic and Transalp (which he won in the last two years btw) before trying out road races.
The worst GC result in his 6 stage races since the transition was 17th, and he has climbed on par with riders like Guillaume Martin, Weening and Cattaneo in some of those.

He reminds me of Cadel Evans (or JC Peraud as an extreme outlier) with that bio, let's see where his ceiling is.

Great deal for Bahrain, Hermann Pernsteiner is one of Continental's best potentials with an interesting regularity, despite a little disappointment during Tour of Austria. This arrival could also open opportunies for Pernsteiner's slovenian teammates, especially Korosek and Mugerli if he's aiming to continue his career. Bahrain with talents like Pernsteiner and Korosek and a gregario like Mugerli would be fantastic.

Dowsett hasn't ridden a GT since 15 and is pretty bad at everything else than time trailing. Not good in echelons. They have plenty of rouleurs still: Bennati, maybe the best, along with solid guys like Oliveira, Erviti, Rojas and the young and improving Sutterlin. They are set in that department despite a few of them leaving. The question is the climbers who are gonna support their 3 stars.

Katusha seems to focus on anglo-saxons this year, Dowsett is the third one after Haas and Boswell.

Devenyns has renewed with Quick-Step (2y).

Other than Meintjes no big marquee name for DDD in 2018 that could collect points - I higly doubt they'll raise their stock next year which is important as 2019 will see a reduction of the WT teams to 17.

Well they should have Cav with less injuries so that should bring some more points at least.

With or without Cav the team's situation is the same - last year they were again dead last - behind IAM and Giant (who have way better 2017 as Sunweb thanks to Dumoulin, Barguil and Matthews). Now they are again 18th with nearly 1200 points behind FDJ (Madiot should relagate the team to PCT if he keeps moan too much about the WT structure). Even Bora who up til this point were PCT are doing better (but that's just the power of SAGAN).

Dimension Data needs to do more than they are doing now on the transfer market, because 2018 will be too little, too late for them. Next year there will be a battle royale for out of contract riders, because with the WT reducing its teams to 17 for 2019. And with that the lower tier WT teams and the top PCT teams or new projects will try to collect as many points as they can get to secure WT license for 2019 (mind you that the whole Purito to Bahrain BS was just because they needed his UCI points and nothing else)

What keeps me wondering is that Cannodale has pretty much being absent from the transfer market this year - the team has lost (source PCS) 5 riders with 11 more out of contract. They've only re-signed Uran and that's it. Vaughters had even said that they will announce new sponsor which is yet to be revealed. This passive policy from Slipstream may cost them deerly in the future and could jeopardise their WT status

I also prefer official team website confirmations, but this looks quite trustworthy as well:
