Mezgec wins Veenendaal - Veenendaal (back to the old name thank god) ahead of Wippert and Hofland. Couldn't watch the race along the route this season, so no pictures this year

The thing is that UCI just dont care about them. They dont go outside Portugal, and when they do, they usually don't get any result. That's one of the reason why there are no Portuguese teams in PCT

Apperently the bridge opens twice a day, sounds like miss-comunication.
The race director was pretty upset while being interviewed by Tv2, still funny

Surprised no one has mentioned the Pro Otztaler 5500, a legit mountain one day classic with the mighty Timmelsjoch. Kreuziger won the race that has the potential to be Strade Bianche-esque and quickly rise in importance so bigger riders will target the race.
Great race, hope we will se more of those, maybe 3-4 in succession as an alternative to the Vuelta.
Also Bernal absolutely annihilated everyone in Avenir. As I said one in a generation |

I didnt watch the Ötztaler but my dad wrote me that he went to see it live on Kühtai. It's basically right at my parent's door step. Cool to see that they have made this infamous amateur race, that both my parents have ridden and mastered, turn pro. I am not sure if it can rise in ranks quickly though. Looking at Tour of Austria, there is just way too little backing for bike races here. Plus organization was always a bit off, in Kühtai for example there are always cows on the road haha I dont know how it was this year tho. Ötztaler does have a big ring to its name and who knows what's in store for them. With the World Championships next year in my hometown, this could be used to really kickstart Austria's cycling. Plus Mühlberger, Konrad, Gogl are a pretty talented bunch. Hope they get some momentum for next year.
