If people who ride for Froome would ride for bardet he could be also winner i am not mad as on froome as on team sky and their infinity strength because of unlimited $$$. It aint very fair. It kills competition so much
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

I am not even mad anymore about Froome winning, he is deserved winner year after year. For example, what Urán did to be a deserved winner, sucking wheels of Bardet? This. Uran did only 1 attack the whole race, and it was on a flat which wasn't gonna succeed.

Who cares, if an individual rider with little help from his team can stick around the top of the GC consistently, then good on them. It's just when a rider's super strong team does all the work that it's boring and bad for racing.

Also Froome is pretty entertaining when he is not in lead. Which you can't say about Uran. (Wow, I'm defending Froome.)

Sunweb best team of 2017? Pink jersey, polka dots and green jersey
Yeah it's impressive. I said two years ago i thought Matthews could win the point jersey and people on this site laughed at me My revenge is here.
Also Dumoulin got to be one of the favorites for the Vuelta as well. Who else can actually compete this year? Nibali, Valverde, Zakarin and maybe Froome?
A few more sprinters crashing out, and Tony Martin could've won it.

Uran is our last chance. But i do not see it happening since he is already half minute down. Maybe if he was equal with froome before that TT i could be dreaming but when it is like it is i cant see it happen
Why do so many people hope or think that Uran will ride a good TT? He has not shown a decent TT performance for years. When you look at this and last years results he can be happy if he doesn't lose time to Aru. |

Froome alone from last two editions is more entertaining rider than Uran ever was.
(wow, i am defending Froome too).

Not sure how it is now, but in 2016 Sky had comparable budget to Katusha, BMC and Tinkoff.
Tinkoff overspent on Contador's whole gang, BMC usually overpays classics riders and Katusha was known to overpay for any good Russian. |

Please show me a reliable source that says so. In terms of wages I can imagine that, but in terms of development budget, research ressources and stuff like that Sky has by far the highest budget.

Another explanation next to Uran being already satisfied with "only" a podium place: His team is so weak that getting him into the lead would only hurt him (as we saw with Aru) so he saves his attacks for the last decisive stage, for being the least possible amount of time in the spotlight. Less likely but also a possible explanation. (Wow I defend Uran)

Uran just severly lacks winning mentality. Many times up there in the biggest of races but always finds seems to find a way to not win.

No, you were probably confused by 99% fanboys here expecting something, he does not have it! He probably run out of steaks somewhere around late 2014...
So much pre-race crap here about him being a contender.
Also, Froome won, not even trying very hard, should be okay for Tour-Vuelta double.
Like I said, I was wrong. Too bad. Obviously he is not racing for the Tour win but at least he is trying and wanting a stage win and going down like a Champ, still setting a record like today at Croix de Fer, which is at least something foe the history books for a while.

^ Which is exactly what I love about Alberto, no matter what happens, he fights like his life depends on it. When I was a kid I used to like Andy more, but as I've grown up, there so much that distances them mentally. Alberto would still attack if he had a brother being dropped.
And ofcourse, his bike dancing in the mountains is so stylish |

Great posts Shonak and Schleck96. Contador's attacking spirit it what makes many love him, including me.
@Luxemburger But, if Uran is aiming for the win he should get time anywhere he can. Also he may have a bad day, crash, mechanical etc. and lose a lot of time so better to attack and gain time in the previous stages if he can.

Yes if he can but he couldnt thats the answer why he was not attacking = was on the limit

Quite true. Marginal gains, uhm.. well we have a thread for that but the Lord is right on that

Katusha zero results this year apart from Vini Zakarini

Erm has no one mentioned here that Barguil was injured for most of the season leading up to the Tour? Pretty embarassing stuff being posted by wouty.
