Anyone seen Soler?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Riis123
The Giro just HAS to use this climb at one point. And Fauniera, and Finestre, and Mortirolo... the same year!

So negative Riis,

Soler kept up pretty good, stayed with the group longer than Pozzo
but was dropped a few kilometers back.

Should be behind the group with Caruso, Kruiswijk and Hirt now.

Oh com'on! Soler is a young guy of 23 years and not some accomplished rider.
Cut the young guy some slack!

Edit says: Pictures from inside the tunnel!!! That's the swiss for you!

Only in Switzerland can a tunnel somehow be attractive.

Only that the tunnel is situated in Austria! Wink

But depending from where on earth you look upon the Alps,
Austria and Switzerland may appear the same.

Yeah, he looked completely dead last time I saw him. Lets hope he doesn't lose so much, but I exÄect at least +3,00

Forever the Best
Great win by Spilak. _O_ Shame Pozzo cracked but at least he won yesterday.
Also at the end of the tunnel they were at 2830 meters, which is a new altitude record for European pro cycling.
Tiefenbachferner/Rettenbachferner can be used in the Giro with this combo:
Auna di Sopra-Pennes-Monte Giovo-Timmelsjoch-Tiefenbachferner/Rettenbachferner

It will be extremely hard though so you can do it without Auna di Sopra or even not including Pennes as well.

Riis123
Pennes -Giovo - Timmel - Rettenbach would be the hardest stage in GT history or thereabouts. Aint happening at all. We should be happy to see this climb just with one decently hard climb beforehand..

I just get wet thinking about those climbs you just outlined in sucesssion. Would be proper carnage. Pfft

Well I wasn't planning on it, but now I might as well respond.

It was a good ride for sure, and I'm happy about that, but it wasn't a win. I should be happy still, but Dombrowski is at the age now where this kind of ride is probably the best he will ever be, which is pretty sad for me because he could have been so much more. Without his leg injuries he could be up there with the best now, and instead a Tour de Suisse podium.

I'm happy but watching this is kind of bitter sweet still.

Is it just me or am I the only one who always thought that Dombro would only be a rider for a Top 20 GC result?

At the beginning of his career, he looked like a lot more than that. Anyone who puts minutes into Aru on the climbs in the U23 ranks while being a year younger would be expected to do great things.

Just to be clear, no disrespect was intended. Smile

Kinda liked Joe ever since I once signed him in-game while I had never heard of him. As I hadn't followed him at the U23 circuit, I expected him to reach the same level in real life. Sad for the US, who really need that solid GC / GT rider. Are expectations now the same for Powless / Costa?

As an US outsider but U23 insider, I think it's fair to draw analogies to Dombo/Boswell back then. Same team, similar age, similar results.

Costa had a very weird season so far, anybody able to shed light upon that?
If he can recover from whatever issues he has, Utah will be very interesting to judge him as he has fallen a bit under the radar.

Powless on the other hand has very good results recently, maybe not quite on the level of the numerous Australians dominating the U23 scene but they're just going nuts. Orica could add 4-5 neo-pros next season if they want to.
