Remember how Kashechkin was doing well for few stages in GC in Grand Tours and then would either abandon or fall off the cliff in GC?
See the similarities with Porte or not yet? |

You mean last year's nr. 5 and current favorite for the Tour? Kinda untimely nickname... |

lol that never happened. He only rode 3 gt's. Finished 3rd in his 2nd GT and in the 3rd his team got thrown out.

This forum sigh. You call some rider a nickname and you all get so fucking triggered. No wonder it has been so dead recently. No one really wants to discuss anything with toxic killjoys.
I do like Porte's chance for Tour and really starting to like him since he left Sky but whatever. |

He asked you a genuine question and disagreed with your reasoning. No need to call him triggered and a toxic killjoy |

Maybe you could give the actual explanation which is in 2012 when Wiggins and Froome were riding up the mountains during july like Vino and Kash in Vuelta 2007. Someone then came up with the nicknames Wiggokourov and Froomechkin. Which were quite good nicknames.
Then a year later it were Froome and Porte who rode up the mountains together and someone with little imagination came up with the lame nickname Portechkin. Luckily since then use has almost dissapeared

This is just one of the reasons I love Porte!
Fought like a demon all the way to the end and Froome snakey tactics failed him. Porte just needs to now watch out for Astana, BUT the Sky train will be in full force in the tour so I doubt something like this will happen in the Tour. Porte only lost 2 measly seconds to Jakob on the climb and that is more than accounted for by the chasing of porte beforehand. Porte was very strong and will be praying for Damiano Caruso to be in full fitness for the Tour. Porte additionally was faster than fuglsang, with Jakob only winning by 10 seconds, more than accounted for by his bonus seconds haul.
Porte fully deserves the favourite tag now for the tour, but somethings like this seem to always get in his way.
Sigh... |

Also, I know I could have said in this previous post BUT.
Cadel Evans in 2011 finished 2nd in the Dauphine. What happened later on in that year?
Could this be a good omen, sure hope so! |

If we're gonna take that superstition any further, first time since 2011 Galibier is featuring in the Tour.

Contador dropped by Bardet's attack and caught by Portechkin. Wow.
No surprise for realists.
He riders like in the old times, but lacks the quality now.
Awesome stage, awesome race, Tour will be something this year! Strong Astana vs. Froome skybots vs. Porte in lifetime form. Valverde, Bardet, Contador and few others throwing some crazy attacks, cant wait for it.

TDF used to be a bit of a bore, but with the season we have had so far could be different this time.

Looking at the GC contenders yes, but this years route doesn't seem to have a lot of mountain stages not to mention uphill finishes |
