Contador looked terrible today, he is not good this year. It is very sad that he crashed out of the Tour on the years where he was very good.
It's still the Dauphine. Nibali was really poor here in 2014, before he won the Tour.
Yes. Contador said it like milion times that he is there not for win but for training and that he lacks of intensity and motor pacing training which he intends to do after dauphine in order not be overcooked at Tour . He said that he needs to take more conservative approach. So what would you expect? However it may be an excuse as well. But we will see at Tour if it was excuse or the truth. But I never expected from contador to be so good that he could beat froome or porte here.
Valverde. Why he was attacking?
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

The only worrying thing about Conta today was that he got distanced so badly in the downhill

Have never understood all talk about Contador. He can do nothing without doping.

Not easy following Valverde and Bardet downhill, especially if you have a history of crashing. |

Contador says that he was dropped when trying to overtake a rider, my guess is Naesen, because both ended together the stage, he went wide and almost crashed, and that made that Valverde and Bardet distanced him

Yes, he is also miserably technical. Just a question about time, before he crashed.

Yes didn't expect him either to hold up with Froomster and Portechkin, however the gap is a bit too much for my liking. That he didn't hold Bardet and Valv's wheel doesn't bother me. I'm glad he is not risking anything for +/- 3 places inside Top 10. And if Aquarius is right than there is actually even less reason to worry about.
Tour should be amazing, whether Contador is in form or not.

Do not worry he will be okay at Tour. If it will be enough we will see. I am 100% sure that he did not want to risk in downhill given the situation on the road. For what? Thats why he lost sth as well.

@Shonak He lost too much time on the climb as you say, and they only attacked on the later parts of it. He didn't look convincing. Then again he was pretty crappy on '09 Dauphine, getting dropped by Gesink and Fuglsang on both Ventoux and Saint François Longchamp but then proceeded to crush the TDF. |

Froome in problems and Contador is podium favourite, right?
Some guys should reconsider their words from past days i guess...Froome will slaughter everyone, maybeonly Richie can challenge him if he does not have an off day like usual. Valverde will be contender for final podium spot and Contador will scramble for top5 if he stays on the bike. His days are over

Yes, Contador was good for 8 years ago. Not so strange, Froome and Porte was not with. |

Froome didn't look convincing until today but today he showed why he is the biggest fav to win the race. And Porte looks like the biggest challenger to Froome while Contador has even less chance of winning or podiuming than Quintana and Valv. |

At least every sport that pays well enough and that has some aspect of endurance and/or strength in it. Can't imagine archers doping, maybe stuff to concentrate, who knows.

If there is an year where you can definitely say Contador is out of contention 1 month before Le Tour, then it's most certainly not this one.
Dude's got 2nd places in all the stage races he took part to, if we exclude this one.

Yes, funny that we had a discussion about this just yesterday and now he comes up with the same repetitive stuff again.

The reason I don't think Contador will win this year is that he didn't look extremely good (the only stage where he was head and shoulders above evryone else was the last stage of P-N, while there were 3 stages like that last year and even more in 2014)
@Shonak From what I remember there is doping even on snooker (as you said, it was a stuff to concentrate) |

Thank you for this link. Gives great insight. I am confident for le Tour. Let's hope for some two awesome race days left. I'd love to see Valv or Portechkin win Dauphine. Porte really came into his own when has left SKY. Just needs to drop the Froome is my friend-attitude which he displays at times. Sadly I will miss the next two days due to a beachvolleyball tournament but if the stages are worth catching up on, I'm sure cycling torrents will provide.
Vamos Contador!
