I could almost feel sorry for TJvG if he hadn't whined
like a little bitch at the Volta a Catalunya.
Lotto and Greipel seem off their game. He was at the front 2 times today
and each time he got boxed in and/or fell back. Did the same
on the last sprints too.
In sharp contrast to Quickstep. Again a great effort of 'em.
And by Bora. What a lead out!
Way better team at the Giro than that Tinkoff squad at the California race. |

so far I am not impressed with the sprints...Gibbons, Bauhaus and Mareczko do decent...
Ewan out of his positioning game eventhough he has some good leadout, Greipel with neither protection in the final nor positioning, and Gaviria just takes what is offered to him.
The stars of the Giro flat stages so far are Pöstlberger and Selig together with Richeze, Bora dominates the leadouts if it wasn't for an absolutely impressive Maximiliano Richeze. It looks as if QuickStep now has the two best leadout sprinters in their team in Sabatini and Richeze. I want to see them together leading out Kittel on a GT, that would be a wreckfest if all on form.

Gaviria is the real deal, i feel silly that is was not a believer.
But he still needs to prove against absolute A league in the sprints which is Tour. Plenty of years for that ofc.
This years Giro sprinting field is B league, Greipel is naturally loosing a bit of his strenght with age and Orica is good with lead-out for one stage but disaster in another.
Will be fun to follow Ewan vs. Gaviria battles in future, could be a nice rivarly. Mareczko can join them hopefully.

Who also won 3 stages in his first GT? Yes, thats right. And he can still win 4
Giro and Sky. 5th time in a row. Wiggo, Porte, Porte, Landa, Thomas/Landa.
....oh ffs, Thomas in the Tour now. And probably well rested. |

But to compete, he also needs to win 3 stages in his first TdF.

That Sky luck is thing to study. Poor Thomas. He's with Stannard are Sky riders I like.
About Gaviria. Not bad start for career..same success rocket as Sagan and Cav. |

A wild Gaviria appears all of a sudden!
Kind of a messy sprint though |

That was really impressive. Do the bloke have an afterburner on his bike.
He was faaaaar down and just blew past them.
I am stunned
Caleb looked more like he tried to catch the rocket passing him. Instead dropped into Richeze and once more lost his pedals.
