I don't really see it that way, but if Quintana still is very gppd after after the Giro, he will obviously still be the main man, but Valv will be around no matter what
Nobody has been good at TdF after giro 20 years for now.
Why Nairo is taking Giro anyway? He has that title. He is only one who can beat Froome. Afraid allergies?
1 Grand Tour > 0 Grand Tour
Quintana is never gonna beat the Kenyan dawg

Yes. That and probably that he wants to win a race again. He can do that in the Giro. I'd rather win the Giro (again) than podium the Tour. Although I'm far from convinced that he will win the Giro.
Froome should ride Giro as big surprise. |

Tour of Britain announces this years route https://www.tourof...atest-news
At first glance it looks like a rather flat, sprint friendly edition with a short but probably decisive TT. Maybe I'm missing something as I'm squinting at the profiles they just tweeted on a mobile but 4-5+ sprint stages, a flat TT and maybe a couple of punchy finishes isn't exciting me.
Given the potential for a spring classic like series of climbs in the UK I was hoping for at least one stage of up and down attrition
Edit - I suppose stage 7 is kind of that way...maybe...

because setting the same exact goals every year is boring.

Exactly why Andy retired. Just bored out of his mind. |

Leaving Chaves open to win Le Tour - I love it
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Slightly disappointed by the route annoucement. I like the finishing circuit in London (was similar to a finish in Paris / Madrid) of previous years and I know you can only have 8 stages, but a lot of country is not being visited during the race.
Stage 3 & 4 are too close to each other geographically and just loop back close to where they started. What is wrong with making them go further up / across the country?
The ITT is Dowsett made. Close to his home county and I'm sure I saw it is 10 miles long...

You need to find his twitter response, utter brilliance (unlike the route, which is dissapointing in its ambition)

Haha, they could've had a TT round the Dengie Peninsula for him. At least then I could have reminisced about geography field trips. Have taken another look - lots of sprints, stage 7 has some up and down but probably not enough to be selective so all in all a 2 out of 10 for me. I like a good sprint as much as the next man but having 4-5 out of 8 likely to end that way and probably a reduced bunch sprint for stage 7 plus the TT seems a little skewed. Shame as recent editions have had some decent stages.

Nope, scared shitless to be beaten by Froome and his army again. So he will win Giro and have a good excuse to loose at Tour again...Valverde will take over leadership and will be 3rd in Paris.

Everybody believe that Froome will be again in yellow in Paris?
Btw considering the TDF climbs this year they are not so suited for doing classic "SKY train".
What about Porte and Contador? They should challenge Froome appropriately enough. Well I believe in that
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Froome is the big favourite obviously, but there really isn't the stage in my opinion where he will stamp his authority and put minutes into everybody else as he has done before.
The time trials are short and the mountain stages aren't particularly demanding (compared to previous editions) and there are many downhills (the two hardest mountain stages finish downhill), which Froome noted in his latest interview. He would much prefer them to be MTF's despite his brilliance showing of descending last year.
That will make for a closer race, well, thats at least the thought behind this route for ASO. Whether it will work, Im not so sure, it depends on how good Movistar-duo, Contador and Porte are.

New Energy Tour is apparently cancelled for this year, because there are roadworks the organizers weren't aware of...
And I didn't even add that route in my PCM version because that road doesn't even seem to be part of the route on their shitty map
In any case it's a shame to see it cancelled. Could well have been a very interesting event if it had echelons (which wouldn't be the first time in the region).

It's almost May and Froome hasn't raced one competitive race this season so far
He should destroy the competition as never before with the schedule they gave him this season

And maybe that will be a mistake. Racing give you something more than training in some aspect. And what? He will have sth around -10 racing days in comparison to contador for instance...or it is some kind of guarantee that if you have 20 racing days prior to tour you will be unstoppable?

Agree. But there seems to be more steeper climbs I would say which may be good.
But yeah Giro is definitely harder

Meanwhile terrible news from the USA. Axeon talent Chad Young crashed badly in the Tour of the Gila. According to the team, it's highly unlikely he'll recover from his head injuries he suffered.

Highly unlikely he'll recover as in his condition is life-threatening or as in the damage dealt to his brain will be permanent? Even the Dutch-speaking sources I read were pretty vague. Horrible news whatever's the case though.

Terrible news indeed. Was following the twitter updates the last couple days and was hoping for better news after they mentioned it stable couple days back. Unfortunately became more critical again.
This is the last update on his conditions: https://www.axeonc...oungUPDATE |
