I agree. This passive and/or defensive style of cycling is killing the excitement in this sport. We don't want to see mass sprints in these type of races. |

im not sure i understand
you mean races like amstel? those races usually ended in sprints from smaller groups until the cauberg was made the finish in the 21st century
as for matthews yes he seems like a major douche |

The amount of attacking action is getting less and less each year. These races are not fun to watch anymore. Something must be done to improve the amusement value.

“The Brabantse Pijl is a beautiful course, but not the most important. If I should lose one, then it good to be this race,” he said, looking ahead to the Ardennes Classics that begin with the Amstel Gold Race this Sunday.
Gilbert is clearly one of the favourites for the race, along with others like Michael Matthews (Sunweb).
Gilbert also commented that some of those rivals, like Matthews, were racing against him more than racing for the win.
“I do not really like that kind of racing. Then I only planned to play with them and to make them lose this race. I think they’ve learned their lesson and that is good for the Amstel Gold Race on Sunday.”
No one likes wheel suckers. I love that Boonen and Gilbert, legends of the sport who always take the race in their hands when they are at good form, are calling first Degenkolb and then Matthews out for their negative racing. |

again..who started that tactic this year..he's fucking teammate Trepstra against Sagan..and own Ettix managment sayed it out: If we wont win..we will just fuck up he's race. Now they complaining..one after another. Legends..fuck.

Theres one major difference. Terpstra cant win a sprint in the finale against Sagan. Matthews and Degenkolb can beat just about anyone and riding like that doesnt make sense |

Degenkolb ain't in top shape, if he stays at someone's wheel
it's simply because he can ride past him.
Give him this season to fully cope with his finger and we'll talk next year.
Also I don't think that you can name those 4 in the same sentence.
Both Boonen and Gilbert are/were on a whole different level
but Degenkolb is still younger so...we'll see.
As for Matthews...I won't comment.  |

not true. Last couple years in maastricht there was a small group of 3/4 riders including Boogerd and Armstrong every year.
Zabel and Ludwig the only ones who won from a sprint there from a group bigger than 5.

Tour of the Alps started today with a Scarponi win, his first individual win since 2011
Tro Bro Leon went to Gaudin who outsprinted Backaert. Giraud (?) won the peloton sprint I think

With the finish being on easter monday in my hometown Innsbruck, of course I had to drop by the debut of Tour of the Alps. We didn't go quite high, here is the initial(?) attack by Gastauer followed closely by Sky and FDJ. Some good fun seeing the riders and of course cheering for Scarponi and Landa.
The atmosphere wasn't of course on the same level as Mont Ventoux last year but who would expect it. It's a nice start for this new race and motivates me to apply as a volunteer next year for the WCs (if the job allows it) because I saw how helpless the officials (police) were at times. Especially when the riders went down from Hungerburg to their Hotels, they didn't know where to go and so some spectators and we showed them the way down until most riders left the maze of Innsbruck's Höttinger Gasse, whilst the police and security officials were just standing around

Haha Innsbruck would be the right place for Mr. Moar-Hills.
Lucky you Shonak for having a race come right through your town.
Kinda strange feel tho as around here there are school holidays and you see cars with cargo boxes and ski racks on the roof leaving for skiing vacation in the alps while on the other hand a bike race happens exactly there.
But enough off-topic. Very interesting route. Difficult from the looks of it.
Oh and Tro Bro Leon deserves a higher UCI ranking!! |

I'm wondering if PCM will take offroad parts into account anytime soon. Strade Bianchi became WT, a true classic like Gent-Wevelgam added 3 dirt roads as well, and then there's the smaller races like Tro Bro Leon, Dwars Door Het Hageland and Schaal Sels depending on offroad sections. Doesn't have to be a seperate stat, but maybe a combinations of flat, downhill and cobble can be used to see how fast a rider goes.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Its a great course, but no teams apart from the French ones seem to care, so I don't know about that one. Strade Bianche deserved the upgrade because many of the best riders in the world cared enough for the race to actually try hard to win (despite being early March), Tro Bro Leon on the other hand seems to be a French NC on dirt roads. There is even better competition in the brand new Dwars Dor Het Hegeland. |
