Fuck! On the other hand Phil can go crazy now. Hopefully this means now Alaphilippe will be 100% for Tour. |

Apparently his Pais Vasco crash caused a knee injury, which he still suffers from.

Hardly news, but just dropped by to say Androni BY FAR has been the best Italian team this year, yet we are still treated to fucking CCC and Gazprom in the Giro instead.
So many good riders this year on that squad. Especially Bernal, but Torres and Cattaneo are also in shape, they will tear Trentino apart. Go Androni, go Savio! |

This sucks, he was in great shape in PN and MSR. At least one Ardennes win would have been nice.. well, come back stronger Jala

Fully agree on you, a shame that Androni is not part of the fun this year.
In other terms: Astana confirmed that Michele Scarponi will be their captain instead. In my eyes this is close to a disgrace on the several younger riders that would've deserved a fair shot at a GT GC finally. I am thinking of Miguel Lopez of course, though he can't be there with his injuries. But why don't finally give Tanel Kangert a shot on going for himself, he has done so much great work on GTs and also on his own in smaller races, he could really use the chance of riding for himself for once. And instead, Scarponi leads at the Giro and Fuglsang at Le Tour. I'm only missing Tiralongo leading the Vuelta now for the oldie parade...

Aru is now slated for Tour leadership with Fuglsang.
Scarponi basically becomes a defacto leader in name due to no other big riders of theirs being in shape to tackled a GC. If you could get in shape this fast, Aru would still be going.
Fully expect Kangert to go better than Scarponi anyway and take over leadership GC wise, although the team is more likely to be stage hunting. And with Moser, LLS and Tiralongo as well they should bag a couple of wins.

Yeah, Scarponi + Kangert for GC, at least one of them will fail completely, but both of them have earned the right to try. I dont actually think Kangert has ever tried to ride for GC
I just hope Aru and Lopez will be fit for TdF, a trio with Fuglsang wouldn't be too bad.. |

Astana should really be looking at stage wins and maybe the climbers jersey at the Giro, but in saying that if a super charged Astana turn up then Scarponi and Kangert could find themselves inside the top 10. Scarponi is only 37 so if we use the Horner principal he still has a couple of years to hit his peak.

Cavendish out with Mononucleosis. Not known how long he'll be out but hopefully he'll be back up to form in time for July.

Well if he cant race TdF at 100% his season is basically ruined, its all that matters to him since the WC is too hard for him anyways.
I hope he will be good, but hopefully he won't beat Merkcx's record. |
