Dylan Kennett, whilst not an accomplished road rider is an accomplished track cyclist and despite tough times fought well in Rio despite his young age against the likes of Cav and Viviani to do very well in the Omnium including wins in the 1km time trial and the flying lap.

Yeah he seems decent at TTing, maybe these are too high.

Modifying a likely FA next year (obviously, if Spark stays this suggestion is out the window) because he is a rising star both in NZ and Europe, riding for Israel Cycling Academy and being on the watchlist of Quickstep after a stagiaire period with them last year. 3rd in U23 Roubaix, 14th in L-B-L U23 as well as many results on the continent and back home means that this man deserves an upgrade!

Schreurs upgrade a bit high imo. Even though I would welcome an Oceanian cobbler like that.. a 79cob/77sp just when maxed. That's something.

Yeah probably best to let hill down one or two, had that originally because of the possibility of hill training but pushed it up a bit Pfft To tsmoha's point - yeah 79 cob/76 sprint is maybe too strong on paper but with recent cobbled additions it isn't too bad I guess - certainly wouldn't be near the strongest in this year with suggestions, nevermind the years around with Kasperkwiecz, etc.

I'd really enjoy a strong Schreurs in the game given the number of Kiwi teams (or teams with interest there) and the potential of Hamish!

Bit more fantasy this time, all names are real and info on age/speciality/comparative ability is used where possible.

I'd like to suggest some upgrades for some current FAs so that a couple riders from the Faroe Islands can be serviceable domestiques in the PCT, given they have practically no young riders to suggest. Pfft

Despite him previously having a low cobble stat, Gunnar Dahl-Olsen seems like a proper very strong classicy type rider irl, probably the best rider in the Faroe Islands at the moment (him or Veyhe) a very powerful rider (hence the high res) who can get up hills pretty quickly but lacks the stamina for long distance races with most Faroe races being quite short. There's a thousand articles here which I can't decipher but they mention his name a lot and he seems to win a lot too: https://tsf.fo/hei... Pfft

Sometime in the middle of this winter, he competed in a five time trial series, he was more than decent in the regular time trials, but he crushed the others in the two hilly time trials, given all he's other results that I can vaguely find on the website posted above, I can conclude that he must be a dominant hilly time trial specialist.

A sprinter in the Faroe Islands? Although you can't just be a sprinter in the Faroe Islands, since rough roads, cold winds and very lumpy, sometimes very hilly terrain make that a challenge, Jóanis Albert Nielsen is still level 2 and has a low pot, but I'm suggesting some stats where he can develop into a decent lead-out man who can survive some difficulties in a stage (although doesn't have the hills or cobbles potential to be really that worth developing in the other terrains).

Another all-rounder from the Faroe Islands Pfft Did pretty well in some prologues so I've suggested him as a prologue specialist.

---

Obviously all these riders have been embellished a bit, but these 4 in particular are quite good riders and most suggestions are at least a little backed up by some results here: https://tsf.fo/hei... (although I wouldn't trust myself to find them again Pfft) and I've tried to make sure none of them are particularly overpowered (although if downgrades are needed I'd definitely suggest Magnussen's Prologue stat and maybe Dahl-Olsen's CB and RES, although I think his stats in particular are deserved).

Also some other Faroe Riders who I can barely find info on, so don't want to suggest unless I can find some info (some might even be too old, women or juniors Pfft), but might be possible to add to the DB, I might even have a go at statting a couple later:

Kári Davidsen
Jan Hjaltalin (in particular a very strong flat rider and TTist)
Sverri Mohr Edvinsson
Petur av Vollanum
Sámul Petur Danislen
Evald Rasmussen
Runi Jull
Hendrik Køileskov

I absolutely love these suggestions trekky, especially the effort you did put into this. Hopefully you are rewarded to get all those added as suggested, which in my eyes would be reasonable given that all would be domestiques.

Oops sorry, thanks for noticing, a couple names got into the list because of an ITT I didn't realise was mixed (although I did mention I might have made some mistakes Pfft).

Did some more checking to remove some names who are obviously not eligible - was more just trying to put the names of a couple Faroe riders that weren't already in the DB anyway, wasn't fully nominating the riders I didn't stat. Pfft For the rest it's hard to know, although I'll try to find some more info on them when I have more time. Smile

Just been having a wee bit of a peruse through this. TMM's helpful summary document certainly make life easier than wading through the whole thread, and also helps in terms of formatting, so thanks! TMM's suggestion to make Barbados into the new TTT champions of the world also made me chuckle Wink.

I also did like sammyt's round up of the WT riders not yet in the DB, again very useful work - would say is a no-brainer to potentially get all of these that fall within the right age bracket into the future DB. While I think the discussion on older riders was interesting, think is not best suited to MG in current form imo for much the same reasons as put forward by others.

As a general message (again only imo) given that there are, ... how can I put this ... some quite fanciful rider stats being put forward, that experience would suggest that adding riders from a country of interest for flavour to suit particular teams has a lot of support. However it is also fair to say that any new rider who either starts off with, or has the talent to develop to have main stats of 75+, or overall 72+ are generally fought over in the transfer market, nevermind nationality. Just because a rider is from 'your' country does not mean he is off limits to everyone else! Worth keeping in mind when making stat suggestions.

Finally, the potential for stat inflation is something that we all have an eye out for. Care needs to be taken that this does not just focus on the very top level riders. Part of the reason that there is this mad 'rush to the top' is that it is in part fueled by the fact that lots of IRL 'mediocre', 'journeyman' or general solid domestique pros (plus lots of basically made up stats attached to dudes from countries where a bike is unusual) ending up with main stats in the range 75-80 means that the riders who should be the obvious stars in the MG have to be statted even higher and trained relentlessly to differentiate them (!).

Last off, this does not fit here, but not sure where else to comment, but I notice that viking90 has been hard at work of late updating the 2016 race profiles pages with all the reults from this season. Very helpful resource, chapeau to you Smile

Well the Carribbean does a lot of TT'ing so most of those riders look like TT'ers Pfft

So i was just looking around for more obscure riders without many/any real world results of particular note (went diving on google for random local races to places i like), just to be a touch more creative with some of the stats. Overall they're mostly just domestique level guys, with one or two possibly being CT leaders if a CT team was feeling bold.

Top line is a recommended Max and below is a recommended Entry. Only 3 lvl1.00 entries here, with most being lvl2-max to try and promote their unique/all-round recommended max.
I may have calculated some of the Entry stats wrong, so double check if going from Entry to Max works properly.

Harry Dalton - A TT Sprinter. Recommended add at lvl2.00. I've tried to promote a Track-TT training here, but could easily see someone going full TT however that shouldn't change his top end TT being Pot4.

Alex Ryan - Sprint Cobbler. Early leadout man with some support cobbles skill. I think i worked it out using Sprint training, and given the Entry stats i'd expect him to go that way.

Gabriel Pilote-Fortin - Real all-rounder with a bit of everything. Start at 4.00 and with Pot3 any way he's trained would still be all-round and a general domestique/breakaway rider.

Kyle Antonneau - Modeled after a personal favorite, Martin Grashev. Just with the CB/MO switched around and slightly different other stats. Again entry and 4.00 and with Pot2 doesn't matter if Climber or Cobbles training, will be unique and balanced.

Omar Shapira - Climber with some HL/TT. Wildcard Isreali recommendation, because we all need more random recommendations with no real logic behind them.

Alistair Cobb - TT with some MO/HL. Pretty obvious style of rider. Could go Stage Race over TT but it doesn't hurt that way to this. Lvl2 entry just helped define TT as a prefered training route.

Jerry Allen - Breakaway Hills rider. Lvl4 entry recommended because of the low key stat max, and if i went further back then Sprint training became too much of an option.

Alex Manly - TT Talent. 77 is kind of a high Max for a random rider i know, but could drop the FL to make him very one-dimensional as compensation. Australia just does TT'ers very well.

Sam Poidevin - Stage Racer with low max key stats. Aimed to become a Domestique, i doubt such a rider would lead in CT let alone higher. Low-ish Potential but still a nice rider for teams in the northern Americas

Scott Rasmussen - TT with a touch of Hill. Low Potential and Entry at Lvl4 means even Hill over TT training won't make this rider hugely interesting. Training Hill then actual training could make him a CT leader but weak backups counter that.

Jamie Duehrling - All-rounder. Recommended add at Max to preserve all-round ability. Not much else to say beyond a nice all-round breakaway rider. Could lower Potential to 3.

George Catterick - TT'er. Low Potential gives sort of high start stats for a '97 but it makes for a fast decline and he won't ever be a real scorer. Could drop TT another point or so, but would like to see the high FL retained to compensate against other low backups.

Alex Millard - Cobbles. Just a simple cobbles rider i modeled after Jamie Sparling i had previously. Not much else to say beyond low Potential and not many standout skills beyond Cobbles helper.

Ken Ryan - Sprinter with a touch of hills. Could be a CT lead-out or early leadout in higher divisions. Low potential again to try and promote following Sprint training over Hill.

Tyler Wiles - Sensational racer i came across. Probably overrated but this guy could be one of my all time favorite riders Pfft

Karl Hammarling - Apparently some cult sensation online with a good strong all-round skillset. I found there's a whole family of them, could add a few more! Pfft

to be honest I do not like those suggestions TMM - apart from that jokes at the final and a guy from '97 I also don't see the need of adding several random riders of popular nations, especially if they (partly) have CT captain level and in their national pool several riders that all would deserve better potential/stats than those suggested exist...

@Scorchio - Guess most of that applies to me and I know possibly the Samoans and a couple of Fijians are potentially too good and they're not as pressing to get added with the smaller interest as the Kiwis I suggested, which I suggested to be a) good and b) a fair few of them because we have 5+ teams with at least a bit of focus there, same as some "bigger" cycling nations. I know that I won't get many of them but that isn't the point - really it's just expanding the pool because there aren't enough useful riders from NZ in my opinion.
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Last off, this does not fit here, but not sure where else to comment, but I notice that viking90 has been hard at work of late updating the 2016 race profiles pages with all the reults from this season. Very helpful resource, chapeau to you Smile
