PRO CYCLIST
Be able to choose subcategories to the type of rider. For instance if you choose to be a sprinter you could either be a pure sprinter (Cav, Kittel), hill sprinter (Matthews, Coquard), classics sprinter (Kristoff, Degenkolb) or all rounder sprinter (Felline, EBH).

If you select the potential high enough, you have enough room to grow in all stats to go into any of those directions. It just depends on how you train.
(And if you feel like one stat gets too high, you can edit your rider and maybe redistribute the excess points.)

not really, even though you train an ability you get seriously terrible upgrades. (training sprint, +1 sprint +2 hil or smth)

Others:
I would love it when riders get special traits, the traits add a bit more distinction to the riders that have near identical stats. for example contador always stands when he climbs, while froome sits down even when he attacks. or bouhanni and cavendisch are a bit more aggressive when sprinting or in positioning their selves, than other sprinters. or Dumoulin is pacing himself on a climb rather than following others till he is out of energie.

I think it would at something to think about when buying riders, or when you see Dumoulin, for example, drop on a long climb. I don't know if it is possible, but it would be cool i.m.o.

Career mode race simulation
In career mode I want to be the sports director, not a god who controls 8 human beings in a race. Would like to see a lot more options in planning your strategy before a race, give roles and instructions to your riders, set up the sprint train, maybe have more detailed maps and stage profiles to be able to plan your strategy better, like when to attack etc.

During the race I don't want to control any riders - just like I don't control any of my players in FM. I wanna follow the race, know my riders are smart enough (improved AI please) to follow my instructions and make changes during the race if necessary. I wanna be able to communicate with my captain, give new orders based on race development etc.

(Yes, I know you can set all riders to automatic at the start of the race, but in my experience the AI is not good enough to make smart decision and there aren't enough options to set up a proper tactical plan for the race)

Hey Is There Are A Button For Descent In Pro Cycling Manager ??

Sorry For My Bad English

I don't know what button you are aiming to, but there is a skill that controls how good a rider is downhill if that's what you mean.

It's probably too late for PCM17 but I figured I'd put it out there for PCM18, there needs to be a proper revamp of the AI but, there are many things that need to be fixed in the AI but I just wanted to put the idea out there that the AI needs to be less passive, riders are too willing to finish a race without actually having a reason to be there.

What I mean by this is that, in PCM, riders race by a script, not literally, but there are pretty much 4 categories of rider, contenders, teammates of contenders, outsiders and riders in the morning break. Every other rider (teams without a contender, occasionally some outsider favourites) is content to do nothing for the race and just sit in the pack, or position themselves badly so they don't stand a chance on any difficulties in the stage.

It would simply be more realistic if teams, instead of having the goal 'race according to our capabilities for the most realistic (in the average race) list on the results sheet' which is what it feels like, it would be an improvement to have teams race with an intent more like 'show our sponsor's name' and be racing with a goal of some sort, which could be to win, show their jersey, get a man into the decisive move, join the morning break or many other things.

This could result in riders doing things like:

- A rider who is not necessarily a favourite (and especially with good form) keeping himself well positioned and getting into moves (both from further out and with favourites)
- Strong teams without the number 1 contender putting their all into their leader
- Teams having multiple leaders more often (particularly in a finale, team mates don't always work together well!)
- Teams spreading their strength across multiple options
- Riders willing to make opportunistic attacks (particularly on a small rise before the finish)
- A GC leader who is down on time making desperate far out attacks, or having their team properly blow up the race
- More realistic echelons
- Teams not finishing a race (particularly a classic) where the riders still have ample energy but have just filed in with the peloton
- More riders (and teams) taking larger risks from further out

You do see some of this stuff sometimes but it comes off with the wrong feel to it, it always seems like riders are racing for a list of realistic results and miss out on proper good racing often.

In a similar vein, I feel the AI should be more aggressive in terms of positioning, favourites ride at the front of course but near the end of the race, teams should become more important in that aggressively trying to hold themselves in place (this is where bike handling would be something interesting to factor in, which riders can position themselves on their own?), also coming up to important sections (cobbles, thin roads, hills, mountains (kinda), tough descents, etc. there is always an aggressive battle for positioning in real life, which would be a great addition in PCM

Obviously all the AI needs improvements in many areas but I feel like this would be an important thing to focus on to make the game more realistic and more fun.

I've just kinda written this on the spur of the moment, so it's obviously not a very refined idea (and probably has a lot of spelling mistakes Pfft) but I still feel like it is something to include in PCM. Smile

A general thing for the PCM 17/18 Wishlist: Please keep track of all the suggestions in the first post, so that we don't have doubles and a quick overview on the General Points already tackled. I think of a table, where every suggestion is drawn with a link to the post.

Further (for 2018)

Idea: Dynamic Developement System

Explaination of idea: Give different types of riders different developement phases. Some riders should have the chance of growing later, while other have a more linear type or are early birds. Categories are there to put all riders into, while styles could be an optional column for riders.

Categories:

- Early developement rider (high early stats, most of the development before 24)
- Normal rider (linear development, most of the riders would stay in this category)
- Late developement rider (low early stats, development more happening in the second half of the twenties than in the third)

Styles:

- Kickstarter (normal development, but has the chance of receiving a sudden increase of stats after a game-changing point (big win, team change, leader role,...)
- Cross speciality rider (has the chance of a sudden rise in a main stat that was not as developed before on a high age (28+), mostly starting when decline is in sight)
- Unstable moral (will develope when he is leading his team, will decrease when he is a domestique - an arrival of a better rider in the team will have an immediate impact, the department of a rider that has been higher ranked than him does as well)
- Money Maker (the higher the wage the lower the development, as the rider isn't as hungry to train to be the best as before -mostly early and harsh decrease when growing old, but steep developement as a young rider

of course lots of options here to find more, just was a general example of how this could spice up development

Why: With the current system there is no chance to draw the potential of f.e. late starters or long term domestiques to rise in their roles. Older Riders would benefit from this, as some types of riders just don't develop anymore even if they are drawn with a high potential just because of age issues. For example, I am talking of the likes of Damian Howson, Ondrej Cink or Primoz Roglic - all of them surely have loads of potential left, but they are very likely to have a real developement due to age issues. That, in my opinion, is just wrong.
Another thing to point on here is the different types of riders. While sprinters often go linear in their developement, stage racers or flat specialists often develop late in their age. Like this, for example Tony Martin could well work as a potential late cobble shifter.

Would love to see some feedback on this, because I have no clue whether this might only be a fancy idea of mine as a career & management fan and only a pot of gold for me or a real issue that many players would like to see. Developing riders is a major part of the game, and my heart bleeds seeing this left aside year by year (for team career)...
