Lead Change in the PCT. Wiesenhoff passing Strava but both having a nice gap already.
A lot closer behind and 3 new podium teams actually. Hugo Boss, Coldeportes and in especially Generali made a big move there dropping UBS, Telkom and Porto from the steps.
Also Visit Ukraine did okay but was clearly hoping for a better Cunego performance in Beijing. Ayubowan remains as 9th.
At the bottom Sancor was doing nicely in Trentino but it might not be enough for them. Neither for Compal and In-n-Out. First might still hope for some Dekker power though.
Also Aeropostal and Azteca with a gap of more than 100 points already and so Lierse, Vontobel, Flores, Shimano might feel a bit safe for the moment. Nothing decided though.

Let`s check the projected rankings and here Telkom and Porto move up again onto direct promotion spots while Wiesenhof remains in the new gained lead.
Hugo Boss as last direct promotion team which means Visit Ukraine comes just short on direct way as also UBS, Coldeportes and Ayubowan. Biggest drop back again by Generali, who used most race days of the top half already.
The bottom remains similar. Last 4 go down while Azteca could safe themselves as they are racing a lot more still and could pass Shimano. Also Valio and Euskaltel shouldn`t feel too safe as the usage of race days is also a lot higher already.

Amador and Summerhill remain in the top spots. But seeing their teams off the promotion or in later case even relegation area the depth apparently wasn`t as ideal as elsewhere.
Uran, Roche next with Kinoshita as best pure puncheur after showing his dominance in Beijing. In general a decent mix of all terrains with sprinters clearly stealing points from each other a lot as Lo Cicero is the only rider in the top10.

Great to still see us in 11th place. With Cancellara nearly done, it'll be hard to get our pre-season goal of a top-10, but finishing top-15 would still be a great achievement for us.
Thanks for the update.

Was another good month for Prevar and Cunego, mainly due to Manx International. Beijing was far from ideal, but we moved up, so that's good. August will more or less be the most important month for us with decent chances in races like Portugal, Nakhon and of course San Sebastian.

Woah, 6th was beyond my wildest dreams and we end up in 5th. Absolutely ridiculous! I remember telling jph I hoped we could overtake Ayubowan with a better Beijing, yet they scored more than Generali and they're behind
We won't promote, at least not directly, but damn, I sure will try to enjoy the fresh air up here. August, September and October won't be extremely lucrative for us, especially August will be solely about surviving the races, and maybe snatching a stage win here and there in Austria or see what happens in Baltic Chain Tour with that cobbled prologue.
September at least already looks a lot better with Ulissi that will try to get a top 5 in Britain, Teunissen who has great chances in Gelderland for Rheden, and Ulissi again who is among the favourites for Nantou and Mi-To.

And you'll remember you telling me that Ayubowan would promote, which you also look to be wrong about
Quite disappointing for us that we had an amazing result in Beijing and yet it's made literally no difference in the promotion race. No chance we can catch Wiesenhof and Strava from here, and I think Hugo Boss are probably out of our reach. Prio and Telkom are both going to America I'm pretty sure so with a bit of luck we could compete with them, but I'm not counting on it.
Luckily, with Metinvest planning to disband then 6th is a promotion spot too. That realistically is a 6 way battle. Visit Ukraine will suffer from going to America I'd imagine, though they'll probably sneak another 5 fluke results just in August judging by their season so far. UBS are dependent entirely on Amador and I doubt he has many races left (if any at all), so we really should expect to catch them. Coldeportes are similar with Uran, so I'd fancy our chances there considering that we're neck and neck right now. And the combination of Gautier and Bellis should neutralise the threat that Ulissi poses - apart from a Teunissen miracle we should be able to hold off Generali.
But the team that worries me is Meiji, because as we saw in Beijing, Kinoshita is a one man wrecking ball. What gives me hope is that they appear to going to America too, and Shikai and Ji simply aren't strong enough to dominate the race in such as way that they'd score 400 points (as they'd need to in order to match our PPRD). So finishing 6th isn't an unrealistic goal for us, but a few fortunate results for those around us and it could quickly disappear out of reach.
Luckily from our perspective, our leaders have plenty of racing left. Gautier and Bellis are racing every hilly classic or stage race we're in until the end of the season, while Bibby is going to Austria (alongside Pinot) and also to Ukraine where he should score some decent points. Then it just comes down to whether Petit, Yates and Gallopin can continue to pick up minor points here and there - and whether we can nick a lucky result in Rheden or Faso (as apart from those two races, I believe we can put a rider in the top 10 everywhere else). |

In my defense, I got this spot on before the season would start

Roche only has Nantou left on his calendar, so he will probably end up somewhere along these lines. Froome ventures into a very exciting part of his calendar, where he will do Grand Prix Cyclistes, Tour of Britain, Milano-Torino and Japan Cup to finish off his season, so plenty of chance to get back into that Top 10 Goal spot.
So 16 RD's left for our two captains, 2 for Roche and the rest for Froome. Hopefully we will see some nice display in these races, while the other races are pure trivial to our hope of getting that Top 10 spot. Luckily (or unfortunately) for us we are close to both getting a better and a worse position, so lets aim for that Top 10 spot

Exciting at the top between Weisenhoff and Strava.
We've dropped like a stone but we've also only had 1 non-PT race (Manx) since update #3, so that was to be expected.
Thanks for the update Roturn!

7th at Battenkill might kill us, that is too many dropped points for a team that basically only scores from Summerhill. And while the PPRD might currently look to save us, remember a lot of those race days left is ToA where I don't have a sprinter, or a GC rider of note going. Maybe a weak startlist there can save the team but it isn't looking good. Expecting to be the richest CT team ever when Summerhill has to be sold.

Still close 2nd after a great win but too little points in other races. I hope that our luck turns around soon, especially our puncheurs have to do better again. However I don't think that our chances are to great against Wiesenhof. Thanks for the update roturn

LMAO, Summerhill would be fine in the PT and would probably win at least a few races (well win the race after Bewley crosses the line). Still holding out hope, even just a little, that we somehow find a way to avoid the drop and get to next season where he will have more support and a couple of other riders to get points outside of the cobbles.

Great to see the top 5 dream somewhat alive, although it will be incredibly tough to keep it up.

Too many teams looking too sharp at this point of the season for my likings... promotion looks tough to reach for us, but there are still a good number of race days for us.
Congrats Strava, you guys are having a blast of a season!
Thanks for another great update roturn! Appreciate it!

I guess the team is really coming along now. Both those goals/predictions look possible still and most of it is because of Kinoshita's amazing Beijing. Jump up from 35th to 5th is quite a nice rise too!
