Except your name is De Bie crashing in first days of Giro being injured all race. Wink

KoM is Bonus points here. Rest I was hoping actually. So more than okay TdF for me and with Olivier in Top10 In other GT I had a nice GT season.

That is no different to any other rider. There is always a bigger risk at crashing/underperforming in a GT due to the length of the race, but it can definately be worth the gamble it seems. Obviously if there is enough suiting races then that is the best option, but rather than sending a puncheur to a couple of small GC races with one hilly stage or so it could be well worth the gamble to put him into a GT. With De Bie you definately haven't been lucky...

There was no guarantee that Keizer wouldn't fuck up those hilly stages massively with that 71HI stat. He have done that before Smile - And Bennet in top 25 was not exactly a given either. Definately not 22nd with riders like König, Quintana and a bunch of riders with similar MO stat and a lot better TT stat, behind him. But it is nice to see him perform like this. I like him as a rider type, and perhaps he would be a rider worthy of some training and his own GC races for next season seeing how consistent he have been this season.

You may have been expecting this result, but you are currently the 4th best scoring team in the entire race, having only just been overtaken by Vesuvio and Bouygues. You may even be able to overtake both before the GC is counted. That surely wasn't to be expected prior to the race. Atleast I am still the best scoring team before the GC is counted, and I suspect I will "only" lose 300 points in the GC, points, KOM and such to Vesuvio, so being the 2nd strongest team overall should be possible. 4th place in the PT is the goal after this race, and then hopefully Praha - Karlovy Vary - Praha can take me up to 2nd. But I shouldn't be making too many goals this season it seems. I fail them all.

It's a shame to see Chavanne drop out on the final Mountain stage, if he could have survived today then he would have managed to finish the race which would have been a major achievement for him.

Big win by Schleck, congratulations again, SN! And probably it was needed as well thinking of the GC, as 2'41 down to Taaramäe definitely should make him comfortable going into the TT, seeing how well he has performed in late TTs in previous GTs.

For the podium, I'm still not sure Dombrowski is a given, as I still believe Spilak is capable of getting 2'35 back on the American climber in a pretty flat 44 kilometers long TT. But I guess we'll find out tomorrow, and I could be horribly wrong. Should at least be a thrilling fight for the podium!

Cool to see Hoem try again, he has come to life in the third week here, eventhough he was never meant to shine due to the other attackers in general in the third week are considerably stronger than him.

And thank you for another very nice report, roturn!

I would be very sad if he lost out by 20 seconds or so, looking at how he got screwed over by the race officials on stage 18 Smile

You end up getting a decent amount of points out of the GC positions of Hoem and Nesset in the end. Not enough to stay in 2nd, but enough to be close for the upcoming races Smile

Stage 18 was a joy to read. Also a very close Tour so far. Though it looks like Schleck secured it in Alpe. Spilak was very disappointing though.

Another good stage by Henao. Too bad he will be missing the top 10.

And us 2nd in the rankings? We will be lucky to still be in the top 5. I'm pretty sure teams like Vesuvio have outscored us here by 1000 points Wink

You are definately in the top 10. Who should be a threat to that position? Puma was too far behind from the go, and in the GC they won't get that many points on you. 100 or so I think.

Aker had nothing, Metinvest had a decent race but nothing in terms of GC, and Evonik just had nothing. Aegon is not going to catch that much, and if I'm not mistaken I need to catch 300+ points in the final here. Vesuvio might overtake you - and probably will, you are right about that. Pendleton's, Bouygues and RBC were all way too far behind to catch you, but will close the gap a lot of course.

I think I am currently 200 points (give or take) ahead of Vesuvio and if we close the race now we will end up losing around 300 points in the final rankings, which have them in 2nd 100 points ahead of you and me, and then Puma slightly behind with Metinvest and Evonik possibly being caught by Pendleton's and then a gap of 200 points or so to Aegon (Depending on the final sprint). Becherovka will be leading the PT by 600-700 points after this race.

I haven't check though, but my feeling is that it will be something similar to that Smile

Yeah, me too Pfft - But you are easily in the top 5 Smile - Unless all the remaining points available are distributed between Pendleton's, Aker, Puma and Evonik Smile

If Coppel wins the final TT (which he won't ofcourse after all these mountains), then I could theoretically keep Vesuvio behind me in the end - by a few points. Especially if Phinney get's 2nd and takes, while Swift wins the final sprint without Degenkolb and Bewley scoring any points Pfft

Oh well, dreamzone is over. Next race please Pfft

Sorry about missing the last few stages as I was on holiday.

Stage 13: Nice to see Panayotov giving it a go, but it fails as expected.
Stage 14: For half a second I though Vantomme had that! But still third place is amazing in the TDF! Grin
Stage 15: Stachowiak joining the break is nice, but no success and LLS can't succeed in the hills either.
Stage 16: Stachowiak joins the break again but this time sticks with it succeeding! Grin He made the same Norway mistake from last year of doing all the chasing but still estatic with a second third place, especially from one of our original Poles.
Stage 17: Bernas in the break this time, an attack from LLS too. Smile Great stage away from our team though, loved the sprint for the prestige of winning on Ventoux at the end.
Stage 18: Wow, that was a crazy stage! LLS maintaining the top 20 despite a collapse was very good.
Stage 19: Great to see the yellow jersey getti a stage win on the final mountain stage. LLS securing a completely unplanned top 20 bar a collapse in the time trial is great. Even better is Sobota securing the Lanterne Rouge bar a performance in the final time trial! Grin

From this race total, many days in the KOM Jersey, Two stage podiums, provisional top 20 in GC and provisional Laterne Rouge, amazing result for us! Grin

Thank you so much for all the fantastic reporting so far Roturn! Smile

Can I please place a bet on Taylor Phinney as winner of the next stage? I have saved quite a lot of money for that bet.

EDIT:

I am willing to bet 2000 for any odds at 1.50 or better.

BOOM! and there's the first GT stage win for the team and a possible Green Jersey in our first tour to go with it for all he hasn't reached the Podium Phinney has really rode a great race and with Training in the future and some other guys starting to decline the Phinney Dombrowski showdowns in the future look like they are going to be a hell a lot of fun. Now to watch every report from behind my hands till the end of the season and hope and pry we stay up, so i can enjoy ,Phinney vs Coppel 3, at the worlds its 1 - 1 so far could be a great decider

Well unfortunately my betting option wasn't possible, but have to be very content with Spilak taking 2nd on the stage and 3rd in the end barely achieving our goal. Beating Taaramäe in the TT makes it suck so hard to lose that much on one mountainstage, otherwise we would have won the race.

Lecuisinier smashing the time of Wellens to take 2nd in the U25 competition and 9th on the day was pretty good aswell, although I would have expected Coppel to do a similar result as Boom did today. Boom is a slightly better climber but a bit worse in hills and backup stats, so I had hoped for something better there.

Unfortunately Novak wasn't on a mission today and misses a jump by 30 seconds. Losing 40 seconds to Vasyliv is definately not impressing for a 76TT and 77MO rider. Tsgabu Grmay had a horrible TT, even worse than what could have been expected, so I guess 29th is OK. Both got the top 30 I asked for. Spilak jumping to 3rd in the points competition makes it possible for him to get 4th or 5th depending on how that final sprint stage goes. Vasyliv takes a U25 top 10 and we claim a rather supreme Team GC aswell.

We aren't happy with the race simply as Spilak didn't do what we expected from him, but we are extremely happy with the team effort and it bodes well for the future with riders like Lecuisinier and Vasyliv both doing well. Lecuisinier had a really big season so far.

Congrats to RBC for the expected win here and a respectable 5th, but the biggest congrats to Bouygues who got one hell of a race. 3 stagewins, 2nd in the GC, 18th and 20th in the GC from Bakelants and Barguil both overperforming DRASTICALLY.

I'll wait with congratulating SN for tomorrow. We don't want any stupid crashes...

I think you are ~700 points clear of relegation right now, so there's a good chance you can scrape through, although teams like Pokerstars, Gazelle, Movistar and Jayco'z have got some good races to come. It will be difficult for Orange and Red Bull though, while Kenya and Grieg both need miracles to survive.

No Phinney at Praha or Tasmania?

Yeah, sorry about that. But I wouldn't exactly have thought it was realistic for Spilak to beat Taaramäe, Keizer and Kritskiy in this TT. Losing just 1'14" on Phinney is absolutely surreal. Spilak should on paper have been around the time of Lecuisinier or Coppel even.

Not complaining, though Pfft

It sucks for you to lose two spots here in the final relevant stage, but prior to the race 4th for Dombrowski seemed like quite an accomplishment, ending up ahead of riders like Phinney, Kritskiy and Sicard. Your helpers heavily underperformed though and both Dees and Kennaugh should have been 10-25 spots better.
