So they spend so much money for the WC that they actually forgot they had a WT race?

This is what happens when you chase money into countries that have no interest in cycling or sport in general.

Come on, that's offensive to both cycling fans in Qatar.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Wouldn't surprise me if the UCI suddenly moved up Dubai or Oman up to the WT now.

Potential qatari sponsors were probably shocked by lack of integrity of UCI

Tour of Qatar had the funding cut off and therefore it's no more.

Was it?
It was just a boring early season, warm weather glorified training camp. Every stage was up and down a pan flat desert road and there wasn't a single fan in site.

In terms of racing it was quite unique at times, with quite a lot of echelons. In terms of audience it's not much of a loss of course, but the racing itself was quite good. Though if I'm not mistaken it wasn't on Eurosport this year? That might have cost them the necessary sponsors.
Wiggins suddenly retiring sounds incredibly dodgy to me. I would be surprised if it wasn't related to doping or some other sort of possible scandal.

Ferdinand Kubler dies aged 97. He was the oldest living TDF winner, having won in 1950. He was one of my real favorites of a golden age with a real glittering palmares.
I believe Roger Walkowiak is now the oldest living Tour winner at 89.

This is really sad. Some of the anecdotes related to him were hilarious and he was a very all or nothing rider who I would have loved to watch race, even if he doped, at least he managed to live a full life. RIP
