Tour de l'Eurométropole becoming 1.HC next season. A day before, a new race, the Omloop Eurometropool - the most original name ever - at 1.1 will be added. A ''GC'' of these two races will be made. And this is really one hell of a weird construction IMO
Bit like those Spanish early season races then, just that it makes a lot less sense because it's 2 race days compared to 4.

What about the Gran Premio de San Jose? Or the Vuelta Popular a Costa Rica? Both of which are this month!
The 2017 Season has already started with the Vuelta a Guatemala in October!

I guess that's all down to personal preference. Personally I don't really pay much attention to anything before Paris-Nice.
However the Tour Down Under is the first WT event, the first globally televised event and the first Veligames Fantasy Cycling game of the year so I think it's worthy of marking on the calendar. Roll on 2017

I was going to say I'm sure there was a poll about this last year.

Can't wait as it is my local race. Pity the stupid state government has decided to get rid of the Podium Girls in favour of having the prizes given by junior cyclists.

Seems like a lot of hassle when you can just use a TUE

This time with "special added value" as Sagan returns where it all begun...it was his first ever WT race in Australia back in 2010. Do you guys remember his attack with Valverde and few other stars?

Hahahahahaha..... UCI overrules ASO/RCS/Flanders using the PCC to block the introduction of reduced team sizes... hahahahahahaha
So for 2017 there's no reduction in team sizes. 9 heading to GT's, and 8 to other events.
Brilliant showing from all parties involved. ASO/RCS/Flanders waving their... manhoods... in the air. UCI excerising it's own views via a slightly dodgy system. Business as usual in pro-cycling.
(although it looks like ASO/RCS/Flanders will still push for it in 2018)

well it would've been stupid to adapt the rules after most of the signings were done...it would be perfect to announce it now for 2018, so that every team can plan with what they'll get

Exactly, you don't bring such reforms out of nowhere lol
UCI was right, even though it's a shame.
