This should be a bit better then, more variation in hill stats than last time, but they still shouldn't be many cases where it's exceedingly low compared to it, also should be even less likely to be too high for the best climbers.
Also, ignore the potentials for now, they are pretty terrible atm

I've made some changes to the potential stats, definitely better than the last file but I'm still not sure if they are right or not. so it'd be good to get some opinions on that.

I looked at potentials. Potentials are tough because you need to balance 3 things at once:
1) the overall distribution
2) the distribution in relation to age
3) the distribution in relations to stats.
I am not sure how much #3 matters. If you give a guy with low stats a high potential then he will rapidly improve, but that is OK some of the time, as that happens in reality. But I don't know if the game will make a low potential guy with high stats get worse, if he is still less than 30, when aging begins to kick in. (Maybe he will age faster?). If low potential won't damage existing stats then I am not sure potential matters all that much above about age 27 when rider improvement slows anyway.
So I focused my look on 1 and 2. The table below compares the % of riders in each cell between your DB to the PCM 15 DB. A negative number means less in your DB. So you have 0.9% of total riders less in the U23 potential 2 group. Looks to me like you have to many high potential riders, particularly in the younger age groups.
The age groups include the age stated down to the age above the next lowest group, so for example U23 = 21 to 23. A negative number means less in your DB.
| 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | U20 | 0.0% | 2.0% | 1.7% | 2.2% | 0.8% | 0.9% | U23 | -0.9% | 2.1% | 0.0% | 1.9% | 1.1% | 1.6% | U26 | -2.1% | -0.5% | 2.4% | -1.4% | 0.0% | 0.4% | U29 | -2.5% | -3.0% | 1.0% | 0.3% | 1.0% | 0.3% | U32 | -2.2% | -5.4% | 1.7% | 1.7% | 1.1% | 0.0% | U35 | -1.7% | -4.0% | 0.4% | 1.5% | 0.6% | 0.0% | O35 | -1.8% | -2.9% | 0.6% | 0.8% | 0.6% | 0.1% | Total | -11.2% | -11.6% | 7.8% | 7.0% | 5.0% | 3.2% |
Since I had it I also compared your overall age distribution. See below. You may have too many U20's, I think the combination of these impacts is that your DB will be overpowered a few seasons in.
| Trek | PCM | U20 | 10% | 3% | U23 | 22% | 16% | U26 | 22% | 23% | U29 | 19% | 22% | U32 | 14% | 17% | U35 | 7% | 10% | O35 | 6% | 8% |

As far as I know, potentials are very important when it comes to riders declining as well, I would say #3 matters more than #1 actually. I would be more in favour of normal distribution of potentials, rather than one trying to mimic one of the existing databases in fact. What is important imo is that the percentage of the high potentials (and overall average) are comparable.
In general, I don't think the details of the potentials generated are that important. As long as there is strong correlation (marginally for each of the individual age groups) between average stat (or other measure of the quality of the rider) and potential, it should be ok. Of course the percentages of young riders with high potentials should be somewhat balanced as I mentioned before. The easiest check for that is to compare it to an existing database, like Ulrich has been doing.

Turns out the issue was that I based the ages off the pcm15 EP and forgot to adjust for the extra year. So the ages should look much better now and hopefully that will sort out the potentials too, although I still need to test it.

As for PCM15 players, make sure you make all the riders 1 year younger before you play.

Another update faster than I thought Added in National Champions and World Champions, NCs are chosen using a simulated hilly profile for all countries, except Netherlands (more flat), Colombia (more mountainous) and Belgium (can be cobbled). As for the WC there are multiple profiles so you can get WCs from different disciplines, although it still favours puncheurs.
Provided there are no bugs and testing goes fine, this could be the final update as adding teams is a very big project, potentially I could add favourite weathers, but it's unlikely, I'm happy to improve it if there are any other suggestions though.

It's a great work and I want to use it but i'm used to work with the fast editor and i don't know how to use excel. I'm asking you to write a extend guide on how to use it for players like me. Thank you and great work |

Sorry but I don't know how to open the copydb file in the excel editor. It does not let me save it as a cdb file |

Which part isn't working? If it's not exporting properly check you've copied the values over and the columns in DYN_Cyclist isn't linking back to the sheet.

I managed to solve the first problem but now that I've built the db, entering the game the riders don't appear in any team

Yeah the db doesn't create teams, (although if you didn't change the teams column, the riders should be spread across the 2016 teams, so not sure what happens there, maybe open a career and check all the riders are in the custom teams rider selection list). You'll have to make the teams yourself, it's probably easiest using fast editor for that and won't take ages if you aren't to fussy with the teams.

Yeah, I thought riders will have appeared in the teams I already have (Etixx, Sky etc..) |

You are right, they should be in the teams although randomly placed around them...
Are all the teams completely empty or just some? And the custom team creation page is full of riders right?
Really not sure what's wrong as the riders get placed on teams when I tested.

I made it! I have the database done and the only problem I have detected so far is that cyclist appear so random in teams that continental teams are way better than WT teams. I don't if it's only my problemor if you can fix it. Still great idea I will use it after little changes in the rosters putting the best riders in the wt teams |

Great! Must've been some small mistake on the first try. As for the good riders on conti teams, it's just because it's keeping what's left over of the past database, so just needs to be manually fixed. So nothing I can do about that.
Btw, if you haven't already, delete the riders at the bottom of the file left over from the old db, because they will still be there once you copy over the db.
