Fun fact, we're down to 4 riders now. SotD, I feel you.
Me, too. Stupid mountains
Who could have guessed that there are mountains in GTs ... :/
We only had one rider below 66mo in the lineup though, while you only had two guys slightly above that from the start...

Great win for Olivier, gratz Roturn! Aegon played the king stage nicely.
Agree that the fight between the GC-contenders was a bit boring, could have had some more action.

Super ride from Olivier, shame it wasn't more but good performance for the stage and to break into the top 10. Shame there were no splits in the favorites, Alarcon could really do with some time (if he was on the right end)! Thanks danny

Worrying stuff from Guldhammer, loosing one and a half minute to Denifl and Henao, and a minute to Wellens. Probably need a couple of lucky daily forms if we're going to keep that 7th place. A pity Dyrnes' group was caught early, as I thought for a while that he was going for another spectacular breakaway stage, but congratulations roturn, mighty ride from Olivier. Must be great to see a talent you've developed claim the Queen stage here. |

König still poor, at least an attempt from Koshevoy though! But König really, really poor once again... Ask your teammate how to attack if you don't know how, man!

Good to see Henao winning time on Nibali, but other than that thing are not going so well. Brambilla will probably drop out of the top 10 and Gazelle seem very dangerous now in the battle for the teams rankings.

What did I just read there?
Quite impressed by the ride. Was already thinking wtf is my team doing there? Only 4 riders left but chasing for a 16th in the GC?
Then no support and a long solo ride...was more expecting a huge time loss and out of top20 even.
Obviously my fear was wrong even though I had liked the 10min advantage a lot more.
I easily take the big win and jump into top10. If he can keep this up, this is a huge Giro for the self-grown.
Thanks sgdanny for the report! |

Monster performance by Olivier! Congrats roturn.
Again a strong but boring performance by Madrazo. If the goal is to become second in GC he's doing everything right. But at least trying to gain time on Pluchkin would be nice.
Happy with second in the stage though; that's an ok amount of points.
You're doing a great job danny. Thanks!

Wow Denifl moving up to 6th, I hope he can keep that till the end that would be his best race result this season. |

Wow, what a huge ride and result from Olivier. Feels good to see the self-grown talent of Roturn with a career defining effort. Congrats
Huge work done by our luxury domestique Karnulin, who is himself sitting on 17th place in GC, somewhat making up for missing stage wins that were expected from our leader. Speaking about Pluchkin, he had a good stage and 3rd is very nice, podium is always nice. Madrazo is strong, stronger than Pluchkin to be honest. Imagine the race without him loosing the time because of crash in stage1, he would most likely have a nice pink jersey now on his shoulders!
Thanks for the great report sgdanny, nice covering of both the break (one man show) and the favourites group.

Thanks for another report sgdanny, looks like Kolesnikov is injured after his 3rd crash, hopefully my other riders still can do something in the last couple of stages.

Dall'Oste is dead as can be, let's hope he can finish the race and no miracles happen in the KoM competition
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Another podium by Henao! If there are no gaps in the next stage, he might have won the fourth place in the GC here.
A thrilling battle for the last place in the top 10. Again, if the next stage will not bring any gaps, it will be a very interesting time - trial between Brambilla and Nerz.
Good thing Majka went into the breakaway as the team rankings is looking very good now.

Denifl again staying with the leader's group until the end. His form seems to be rising despite his rather low recovery. I'm very happy with the race so far. Also Kiserlovski with the second good mountain stage in a row. He also attacked at one point something I haven't seen from him in any PCT race. |

Olivier wtf!!!
He is riding incredibly well here also delivering high KoM points now it seems. Plus still 9th in the GC.
This is almost stronger than Gomez Marchante in Aegon colours 2014 when winning 2 consecutive stages and the KoM jersey in the Giro back then.
With only 2 hill stages and the annoying time trial left, I guess he needs to gain time on Brambilla/Nerz though as otherwise he might lose it in the TT.
Let`s see if Villella is allowed to go for stage glory or if he is needed to take care of Olivier instead.
And obviously wow Alarcon. Making the final 3 stages super thrilling! Still thinking Pluchkin will take it easily though. Potentially even Madrazo for 2nd.
Henao Montoya will have tough days ahead of him in the hills. |

73 recovery Alarcon absolutely killing a 79 and 81 in last mountain stage.
Congrats Smowz for the third stage win and the pink jersey, dont know what else to say...and thanks sgdanny!

roturn, Brambilla is only slightly better in time - trial than Olivier. There's no way he is going to make up that difference of 1'40. Olivier's place is very much secure at this point, I think.

Lets not also forget that Alarcon is 'only' MO 84. I do feel very lucky.
In a way you could possibly role play it that Pluch and Madman are waiting for chrono to pour theor energies out - but really both lacking those stage wins really. Pluchkin in particular very unspectacular Wiggins style ride - perhaps he forget to inject?
Very pleased though - my sprinters are really underwhelming at the moment so lucking out elsewhere is great.
You know those hill stages look tough after the chrono - makes most nervous. Vory nice for Jose to be in pink for chrono... doubt he will hold Madrazo but still you can but hope.

Yeah, very boring ride from our leader day by day - the most spectacular mountain rider last year become the wattmeter borefest...
But hey, i have found one positive, he should have a chance to ride in rainbow stripes again in the chrono!
And you speak about hilly stuff after chrono, but harder hilly stage is before it, so maybe we can gain the jersey back...or loose even more

Two days of attacking style must have cost him lots of energy though. In TTs I guess the "green bar" is important and Olivier`s could be shorter.
Anyway I expect tomorrows stage to be more important GC wise as missing out on the attack could be more crucial surely. |
