What Nibbles anyway planning for next season?
I don't think the Chineese will build the team around him - IMO they are waiting the contracts of big names to expire by 2017. From the big names Valverde is out of contract after 2017 and he could be tempted with big wage by the Chineese, but IMO he will remain loyal to Unzue. Most of Etixx riders also have contracts until 2017 (Kittel, Jungels and Dan Martin for example) - they could be also tempted by the TJ payroll
Valverde will never leave Movistar. He's left millions on the table for the team before. Plus a contract extension will be announced in the coming days/weeks.
BMC is stopping after next season unless a big new company comes in. Guess there the new rich can look in the future.
If you need to spread fake news then here's one fake news - Etixx will shut down after 2017. Both Etixx and Quck Step sponsorship deals expire at the end of 2017.

Matschka and König. Cases of delusion of grandeur, imo.
Don't matter who rides what. Eitherway they won't agree with it.
Real great signings for ze germans!
I agree, shaddy princess' teams line up is average at best.
So is chinese's one. Potential merger material for Vaughters!
Is that a confirmed fact with BMC? I mean Andy Rhis has dumped a lot of money in cycling over the years. The track in Grenchen, former Phonak team, now BMC. And I think BMC is way more successful than the Young Boys Bern. So he might aswell continue doing it.
If they fold too it'll get more difficult for swiss talents to find a team which would suck.
Lefevre won't see his team fall apart. He will find new sponsors and continue the team. Or so I sincerely hope!
PS Elisonde's citizenship has to be revoked! |

It's a very similar situation to what happened in 2011 with HTC-Columbia. Stapleton had many offers from potential sponsors but only wanted to continue with one big company with a big name. Nothing came to fruition and the team folded.

It is not 100% confirmed that BMC will fold after 2017. However they say that will step down from fully subsidising the team and Andy Rihs has stated that the team needs to find an secondary sponsor to partially cover the budget. But for complete shutdown has never been mentioned.
Etixx on the other hand are bound to fold - both Etixx and Quck Step have sponsorship deals until 2017 and almost the entire roster has contracts until 2017. Patrick Lefevre would probobly convince one of them to remain and/or ask Lidl to step up as co-owner of the naming rights. There were rumours that some Czech millionare has been involved with the Etixx sponsorship (Etixx is also a subsidary of Omega Pharma)
On reddit was mentioned that Lefevre is no longer in full control - Zdeněk Bakala owned the majority of the team

Still there's a difference between 'not 100% confirmed' and 'fake news'...

well somehow I like Boras team now...a clean stucture with Sagan for One-Day Races and the green jersey at Le Tour, 2 good GC guys to share the races in the World Tour calendar. Lot's of spots for the aggressive talent in the second row on lower rated races, so that the likes of Konrad, Herklotz, Mühlberger, Baska,... can develop. Still wondering how they missed out on Kämna AND on resigning Bauhaus.
Nibali has 2 very reliable domestiques in Siutsou and Visconti, and we know he feels more comfortable with "weaker" co-leaders. He's a Kangert/Fuglsang away from a good GT support, and I guess one in these class will come.
Horrible move from Navardauskas, would've liked him on a team where he can show himself with actually some support for him...

Have you said Visconti, domestique and reliable in the same phrase?

The BMC rumour has done the rounds over the last couple of seasons and yet the team is still around, it's just Rihs not wanting to be the sole big sponsor of the team but he's way to invested in cycling to sponsoring the team alltogether.

BMC was also linked with merger with IAM before those rumours turned out to be false once IAM announced the closure of its cycling team at the end of the season.
Also will Drapac continue as its own team in the lower ranks or are completly absorbed by Vaughters and his Slipstream management? Just like Cervelo Test Team and Cannondale (the original)

Konig is a bitchass and is probably the worst domestique I have ever seen. Did absolutely zero for Froome this Vuelta despite getting a huge check. It is unfortunate since they probably both will do the Tour which will leave Sagan with a few less helpers.
If some of them won't do the Tour, its going to be Konig. Majka won't skip, he would really like to ride the GC there.
König was 2nd leader for Sky in Vuelta, he really wasn't a domestique. And actually it is quite funny to call him the worst domestique you have ever seen when you mention Rafal Majka in the same post.
And Majka and König are quite comparable riders in mountains, but König is a much better time trialist. This is why Bora are signing him to be their leader for TdF.
And I have to say I like Bora's team quite a lot. Nice German/Austrian/Czech/Slovak/Polish core with pretty much all terrains covered and quite a lot of talented riders at the team.

Yes and it was an excellent decision by Movistar. Nairo's contract has been extended until 2019.

Drapac will continue as a development team named Drapac Pats-Veg at Conti level, they will race the Australian NRS plus have a Euro/Asian program, every rider on the development squad will be required to be participating in either a Univeristy degree or other higher education courses. When Drapac was mainly a local squad a couple of seasons back they had a similar program trying to help riders to get an education and skills so they would be prepared for life after cycling, it's something the UCI should embrace.

I personally think they were already guaranteed a WT licsence as the UCI wants Bahrain and the money that comes with it, the UCI will either dump Di Data or change their mind and run with 18 WT teams next season instead of the planned 17.
