Bit earlier than expected, but I'm back. Will do a quick catchup on MG as well, so don't be worried about some older threads being bumped

In just a week, I've spend like 350 euros on books. About 35 books so average of 10 euros per book. Sounds like a good deal, I reckon.
Some lovely work to add to my (too small but growing) collection including works of Orwell, Asimov, Nabokov, Arthur Clarke, Saramago, H.G. Wells, Huxley, Lovecraft...
Despite knowing it's a good deal, can't help but feel bad about spending that amount of money so quickly
Still, worked hard all July and earned plenty. |

Nothing bad on spending money on books Ian, all the knowledge of the world lies in books. I love reading and cant stop buying books, even when i dont have much spare room for them left.
So you bought Lolita right?
I have books from all mentioned authors bar Saramago - 1984 is obviously one of the cornerstone books of 21st century for me, i have read it several times. Huxley is very interesting and rest are masters of sci-fi and horror. Dont like A.C. Clarke much though, Asimov is much better in my opinion. 3
I can also recommend books of Stanisław Lem and well-known Philip K. Dick, these are some brilliant sci-fi authors...

Lolita, of course
Yeah 1984 is legendary. Too bad they've used it as a handbook and not as a warning
Had that feeling about Clarke (not being quite at the level of the others) but just ordered one or two books from him. From Asimov a whole lot more.
Thanks a lot for the tips. I'll definitely check into them!
As for Saramago, my favorite book is from this auther. I highly recommend it if you ever come across it. I've read the Dutch translation. In English it's 'Blindness' and in Portuguese (original) it's 'Ensaio sobre a cegueira'.
Can't praise this enough. Fantastic reading material.
PS. Seems I've already ordered a book from Lew. 'Solaris' is on its way |

I'm so happy everyone, I just reached the biggest milestone I could ever imagine: more than 1000 people have been rickrolled by the fake url shortening link in my profile
I would like to thank every single user that clicked the link, and instantly mumbled the worst curse words: you contributed to make my whole existence have a point
EDIT: We need more shitposting in Pedro

Proud to say I've only done it twice
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Just finished writing a short story of about 3000 words but I'm very happy with it.
Will still need some polishing work, but very happy with the story and development.
It was a welcome change from the long prose I'm working on and where it seems there's no end to it
Perhaps I'll do more of these shorter stories in the near future.
Maybe I could translate this one into English (Dutch now) and put it on the internet.
It's about a star which drives people insane. Well not completely but something like that |

I'm back! Catching up is gonna take a few days, but i'm looking forwards to it (especially MG). And yes this means we'll get a new Weekly News (but next weekend). And i will need to switch avatars shortly as well (even though i love Anna).

are you sure you can go back into this insanity? shit happend, people aren't the same as they used to be. it's like getting out of jail after 20 years of prison.
like arberg has started making valid points or has just repeated the same points so many times people are thinking it's valid, jihardy is literally dead and has reincarnated as someone I refuse to name, then left daily.

Ah yes, waking up at 4:30 in the morning for the first day of school in my senior year of high school. I'm so excited!
Kill me please. End my suffering.
