Froome hilarity aside; beautiful win for Quintana: dropped Contador in a mano-a-mano and held off the onrushing mutant to take the stage comfortably. Gives me real hope that he could win this Vuelta, something I didn't think possible when I saw the route, as the stages that should theoretically suit him more are still to come. And of course a world away from his enigmatic performance at the Tour. You can do it Nairo

If not babysitting the useless Quintana, Valverde would podium 3 GT's this year. Bit annoying, would have been tidy achievement that.

Quintana is favorite to win now and we must listen to his fanboys (again again again) until Froome smashes him in TDF next year (again again again).
Contador had better legs than Froome today, but Froome are smarter.

Floyd Landis?
No he's like Obelix, he still benfits from the remainders of PEDs in his body from back then.
Bit earlier I wrote that team radio's gotta go.
Now I'd like to add power meters in races.
Feel sorry for Gesink tho. |

Great stage, nice with a GC win.
This race to 100 times more fun than TDF.

Good question
Valverde will top 5 3 GT's in one year. Who was the last to achieve that? |

Never been done.
Gastone Nencini did 1-6-9
Raphaël Geminiani did 4-6-3

Well, I think we've finally seen the beautiful stage we were asking for.
Froome with an amazing recovery, or else he just pretended to be suffering at the beginning of the climb. In which case he deserves an Oscar. Awesome rider.
I liked watching Contador being brave, but nope, his legs are not what used to be.
Valverde, as always, dropping early to later catch on like 'don't count me out yet, I just ride on my own rythm"
And Quintana... well, it doesn't matter if he wins the Vuelta by 1,2 or 6 minutes. Y'all people are gonna keep saying that he's overrated
Thanks cycling, this is just what we want. |

I guess that was Sky's marginal gains philosophy summed up perfectly.
They've worked out the kind of time they expect the others to ride up the mountain, worked out the average power outage for Froome to ride up it in that time and then Froome has risen it almost to perfection. I don't think many riders either now or in the past could have done that.
Quintana looked strong again but I can't help thinking his inability to put serious time into Froome could come back to haunt him. I still think he needs to lead Froome by 2 plus minutes going into the final TT to win overall. |

Ok, so I got a question for the community. Who do you think has been the biggest revelation in the Vuelta so far? And who's being the biggest disappointment? |

I knew it, I knew it... Froome is the pantomime horse of cycling, don't know how you can squeeze that, but Danny Pate is probably hiding somewhere inside. |

Contador really blew up there hard sigh.. likely there won't be much left with Movistar now fully in charge but I think a podium should be a good deal. Who knows what can happen in week three, Quintana looks too strong tho. Afterwards, all focus on a new squad.. Somehow, Tinkoff is just isn't working out for him ever since Bjarne Riis left when I come to think of it. So a change of scenery for his final year(s) is actually necessarcy by now.
Watching yoyo Froome is always quite exhilarating, quite remarkable that he can deliver such comebacks.
