De la Cruz in the break could make this stage interesting, he is in virtual red. |

Yep agree! No need to try and take time today unless of course circumstances lead to it, tomorrow is when they'll go for it

So I went on holiday for a couple of weeks, not really following what was going on in the world, much less what was going on in the cycling world, and I return to see Nairo in the red jersey? Maybe I should go on holiday more often

Please make your holidays the next time when the Tour de France is held

Ugh, pretty dreadful. Lets hope for a GC-showdown for the stage on Lagos tomorrow. |

Nice to see that you get the red jersey by just going into the daily break and well, there you have it for a day.
Fun fact: De La Cruz extended his contract 2 days ago. Talk about wrong timing to get a GT jersey and stage win

Another stupid stage. If the breakaway wins again tomorrow I'm going to flip.

Yeah, its a pretty sorry sight.
Froome isn't 100%.
Contador somewhat injured.
Chaves disappointing so far.
And most importantly, no Purito.
Nobody wants to help Movistar and they don't want to bury their team for stage wins, especially not being in this position. |

well I don't mind how the Vuelta is going...smaller riders with the chance to get big results, Movistar with a team that looks to be able to compete with the Sky guys, many riders could have some surprising things in their legs left and surprise the struggeling opponence GC wise for a podium place (Sammy & my putside pick Pardilla especially)

Indeed. It almost feels like a post-Purito kind of era for la Vuelta. |

Yep I agree, I don't know why people are complaining about the race

Indeed. And Riis is right with the race lacking Purito.
Strydz, complaining is humanitys favorite pastime.
Just watch a documentary about primates. They whine all day long too.
It's in our genes, we can't help it.
I wonder if de la Cruz could be Vuelta's dark horse.
Hope he can defend the red jersey for some time. |

Yes Purito was a great champion to lose GTs, Schleck and Quintana are proud.
Do not think David de la Cruz can defend the jersey today, but it would be cool if he makes it. |

Why does it really make any difference if a GC rider rides for the stage other than slightly better TV coverage of the GC favourites? in all honesty there was not much going on up Naranca anyway so the breakaway coverage was fine. You can see why Movistar are scared of chasing it down and wasting Rojas/Fernandez/Moreno on pointless stage win chasing with Orica Biketheifs and Skybots still with multiple GC threats.
GC situation is clear Movistar vs Sky vs loony Tinkoff moves. Chaves has not the confidence to challenge status quo - referring to Froome and Quintana as 'TdF riders' - he looks locked in battle with teammate Asthma man/Brambi/Old Samu/Cannondale shyte for Zubeldia positions - plenty of scope for breakaway sneak moves like Atupoopoo and De La Crud. Sky are playing lets sit back - Froome bot can murder Valv Piti/Stone face in chrono game. Quite interesting they have big mouth Kennaugh and ice cool Konig up there. Konig in particular looking impressive for at least zubeldia challenge.
Lagos is Vuelta classic climb apparently I don't see fascination recent races up the climb have been underwhelming, personally I think the classic _____/ day on Tuesday may be more gappy. Key stages now for me are next weekends nasty looking mountain double header.
De La Crud though will probably surrender jersey perhaps today - I can see Valv.Piti sneaking into red with fast finish - the endless Valv/Quintana dual leader clusterf*** continuing to simmer. Hoping really for another Quintana attack - he still seems a bit in a Sky worshiping paralysis hoping he has confidence to go for ripping race to shreds mode.
