Worst set of sprinters I've ever seen at the start of a GT.

Indeed - really just Arndt, Bonifazio, Meersman, Bennati, Rojas and Felline? Heck even Farrar can do a podium in this field.

I'd agree with that last part but the poor guy will be working for Sbaragli or falling over

Wouldn't be surprised to see Cort come close to a stage win with this line-up.

Not really a surprise to see this poor quality sprint field, we have a flat WC this year so turning upto a Vuelta with it's lack of early sprint stages wouldn't really be great prep for it, there are plenty of sprinter friendly races around that would be better prep. It does make picking a Velogames team a fun gamble Smile

Vuelta will be Peraud's last race, said to end career afterwards. Hoping for a stage win for him Smile

What you really hope is Peraud not to win a stage since he has to work his arse of for Latour who is killing it, just agree with me. Pfft

Hey he could always pull a Horner, stick it to the Bio Passport and just go all out for his last race, it would be hilarious to watch him dropping Contador, Froome and Quintana on the climbs

It seems like there's a very short 29-30% section in today's final climb actually. I really don't understand how it is a good idea to put these climbs in race, since they hardly ever make bigger gaps than normal short hills would.

Mostly I agree Matt but this one does make gaps. In 2012 this 2 kms had similar gaps in the end than long climbs like Ancares, Covadonga, Eibar and la Gallina.

Could be just a matter of good TV. The harder it looks the more people love it.

No, if Yates win and Valverde end second (with a gap less than 3 seconds), Valverde is race leader.

Yates is six seconds behind Valverde in GC, and has a worst "puestometro"

They do create gaps. Not the kind of gaps you'd expect to see in the Tour of France, but then again, this is NOT the Tour of France.

Plus the stage served for a good dose of showmanship between Contador and Joaquim Rodriguez when it was first climbed in 2012:

BTW, Tejay Van Garderen is now losing contact with the peloton when we haven't even reached the final climb...

He said he's here for stage wins but yes, even for TVG that is lazy.
