Without the stage races, there could have been room for Tour of Britain as a WT event I imagine, especially in the autumn that is generally rather.. empty in WT terms. Surely with some Cookson extra rule, there would be even room for british conti teams in that event so I agree that RideLondon isn't the best option to profit of the mega cycling hype in Great Britain. But it's better than nothing arguably.

what people are saying on reddit is that it isnt the sponsor, it's the team management leaving because of the doping of other teams and suspended dopers coming back to lead dirty teams as managers

they threatened to leave last december for this reason if nothing changed

At least somebody is standing up in Portuguese cycling and saying enough is enough, wish more people inside the sport would do the same in the bigger nations but guess Omertà still runs strong

Tour of Britain would be decent and is much better than RideLondon, IMO, but with all the minor and relatively crappy stage races coming in from 2017, meh

Edit: So basically agree. Its a shame.

A number of shocking decisions from Mr Cookson there, but I'll dip into the water:
Omloop and Dwars Door just needed formal confirmations, They were treated as WT races anyway as far as I'm concerned. Same for Qatar and Turkey, for different reasons, but Abu Dhabi was ridiculous. And as for Great Ocean...
But the decision I'm most mad about is RideLondon. A race originally conceived as a fun sportive with a mini-classic at the end whereby a couple of WT teams could send a decent sprinter, and featuring a route that packs slightly more punch than Schelderprijs, has been chosen over a consistently brilliant, consistently well-attended and consistently well-fought one-week stage race that takes the riders all over Britain. But hey! London!
Madiot is totally justified over Paris-Tours.
Disclaimer- Most of my posts are me thinking aloud. And most of what I think is rubbish.

Young Australian GC hopeful Robert Power will be starting his first race of the season at the Arnhem-Veenendaal Classic on the 19th, surprised that he's made the start list at all for this season considering he's still recovering from Bone marrow edema which can take 2 years to fully recover from and if not managed correctly could of ended his career. OBE seem like the right squad to be in for a young rider so hopefully this guy can take it slow and make a full recovery as he has a bucket load of talent.

Sad news as cyclings n1 fan has passed away. For over 40 years he could be found alongside the road giving cans of cola to the riders that needed it.

Not sure if this is true but certainly changes things if it is as they would be keeping the Lampre WT licence

To be honest Lampre is such an iconic sponsor with such an iconic team identity I almost hate this even more.

Moreover the new owners may change the nationality and wipe off Italy of the WT team map

Well Italy wouldn't of had a WT team next season anyway as Lampre were going to be PCT

Rumours on liveradsport.ch (a swiss cycling site with very decent race text coverages) say that there is a new team on the block for PCT called "Acque Blue". It seems like they are working well together with the old IAM team in terms of f.e. logistical things (taking over team busses and stuff like that).

Germany in the end will not be able to send a full squad to Doha for the worlds.

9 riders: Australia, Belgium, Colombia, France, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland

6 riders: Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Eritrea, Germany, Iran, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, USA

other nations 3, 2 or 1 rider(s)

Incredible than Iran and Eritrea can send 6 riders to the WC, and Slovakia, with the reigning world champion, world nº 1 in WT, world nº 1 in UCI World Ranking, will only have 3 riders. Unbeliveable

Juraj Sagan is Slovakian national champion. They don't deserve more than 3 riders
