Kiriyenka still thinking of helping Froome. Someone tell him TdF is over.

Omloop
EBH apparantly threw up 4-5 times during the race. No wonder he went so slow.

Thanks Croatia14, kinda missed that.

Happy for Cancellara. Sad for the spaniard.
Dumoulin is solid as granite this year. Impressive.

Kriyenkyyaya or whatever that cheats name, current ITT world champion but slower than Geschke and Preidler ...what an effing joke.

Well done Spartacus! Such a fitting finale for a champion of the sport. He was always going to go down as one of the all-time greats but this just ensures his legacy among casual fans as well as the die-hards. Incredible to think that both he and Dumoulin crashed out of the Tour but were still the strongest two on the day that mattered most.

As for Tony - it's a bit sad to see him like this. He's clearly giving it his all but past his best by now. I don't think his body is able to keep up with his spirit but the courage he shows is still admirable. Castro seems like one of those guys who will sadly never get the recognition and success that he deserves; a consistent top performer who just has the bad luck of being around at the same time as people (such as Froome) who are slightly better.

As for Rohan, obviously very disappointing that he couldn't have a good clean run. He was clearly fading but bronze was well within his grasp, and I don't think we could ask any more of him after a terrific performance that just didn't work out.

PS: I think I might have very very briefly spotted lakebeach. It was while Tommy D was whizzing past about 58-59 mins into his run, just before the final intermediate time check. Did anyone else see him there?

Dennis did really great, I actually didn't really expect him to be that good. Bronze would have been certain for sure without the crash, probably imo even silver.

I don't think he was cheating but sometimes these TTs can be unpredictable/flukey (including this one even though I love Spartacus). It doesn't happen like it used to with one TTer dominating throughout season (Martin or Cance) and winning WC/OG aswell. I would back Castroviejo or Dennis for Worlds.

It probably was my brother! I went to the other side of the road when Tom passed for the second time. Smile

I saw him throw up the second time he climbed Grota Funda!

First time Dennis has really performed like a podium contender in a longer ITT, didn't think he'd get that close

Didn't get a chance to see the race as I've been on the road, but very happy to see Spartacus taking it. I have to admit, I didn't know he still had it in him!

Even happier to see Kristen Armstrong winning the women's as an American and fan. To be able to do that at her age is very impressive.

In fact, both TT champions of this Olympics are retiring. A great last hoorah for the greats of the past generation.
