thanks, explains at lot. I'm not that big of a fan of rowing so I'm not know on teams names but having the olympics records and world records and setting the best time in the heats. yes they are on course for gold to say the least.

Ok, we can stop the official competition now, Australia the only team with 2 Gold after Day 1!
Seriously though, great to see Mack Horton get past Sun Yang. Talented youngster who called out a drug cheat - and then beat him anyway.

I don't agree with stopping here
speaking of the medal table, here it is, special mention to Vietnam's Hoang Xuan Vinh for winning it's first ever gold medal
| | | | | | Total | #1 | | Australia | 2 | 0 | 1 | 3 | #2 | | Hungary | 2 | 0 | 0 | 2 | #3 | | United States of America | 1 | 4 | 0 | 5 | #4 | | Republic of Korea | 1 | 1 | 0 | 2 | #5 | | Japan | 1 | 0 | 4 | 5 | #6 | | Vietnam | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | #7 | | Belgium | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | #8 | | Argentina | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | #9 | | Russia | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | #10 | | Thailand | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | #11 | | People's Republic of China | 0 | 2 | 3 | 5 | #12 | | Kazachstan | 0 | 1 | 1 | 2 | #13 | | Brasil | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | #14 | | Denmark | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | #15 | | Italy | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | #16 | | Indonesia | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | #17 | | Poland | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | #18 | | Uzbekistan | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | #19 | | Spain | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | #20 | | Canada | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 |
after a exiting road race with forum favorite Greg Van Avermeat winning it is now the womens chance to race for the gold discussion thread here who will follow Vos as Olympic champion, Armitstead?, Stevens? Guarnier? maybe Vos as the first back-to-back olympic champion? <insert more names so that TMM doesn't get mad for ignoring said names>
the others sports don't stand still however; Archery has it's women's team finals, Diving has their women's syncronised 3m springboard finals, Fencing has their Men's Foil finals,
Judo again has their Womens -52kg finals and the men's -66 kg's finals, Shooting has their women competing in 10m air pistol and Trap, Swimming again has 4 events, women's 100m Butterfly, men's 100m Breaststroke, women's 400m freestyle and the Men's 4x100m Freestyle. last but maybe least, weightlifting has two events, the womens 53kg group and the men's 56kg group

Was going to just say first but I had to try and be more specific didn't I?
Happy to share it with Hungary anyway - Hosszu's world record was very impressive, expert commentators here couldn't believe that record would ever be broken. Seems to be a good start for the Kazakhs on that medal table too.
Looks like today's rowing will be postponed, probably the right decision after yesterday caused problems for everyone involved. We certainly don't need more people dunked into the contaminated water if it can be avoided.

to be fair, you'd be wrong anyways. Szasz and Hosszu had their medals earlier Horton and the 4x100m relay team. the spoiler has the events mostly in order of completion.

You're right, I can see how what I wrote was ambiguous and fairly misleading. I do like discussing grammar but I fear we're getting off-topic now...

right now Italy is against Chineses Taipei for the bronze medal match in teams archery, all I'm hoping is for Italy to win cause there is no Chinese Taipei flag on the forum. (and no I can't use Taiwan, China doesn't like that)

Doesn't matter anymore as Chinese Taipei just won in Weightlifting. So you'll be forced so or so to use their flag.
Also, as we have some Turks on the forum, can you help me out with a link to a Turkish live stream? All I've found where foreign geolocked ones.

Well you have decided to use the German flag for Denmark, and we surely don't like that either!

What a day we have had today with 2 golds 2 silvers and 1 bronze, let's enjoy this lads cause as soon as Athletics are on we're just going to slip further and further down the table.
Feels good to watch y'all up from 2nd place tho
