Nice balanced team, you should have an interest in nearly all races/stages, race days permitting

@Margh - Gatto will be 100% followed by me, hopefully he proves me wrong but even with him we´re a step away from the Top 5, too less races for Drucker and lacking supporting cast on every terrain...

So it´s time for the first preview of Isostar's history in the wide world of the Man-Game. First races of all divisions are already done, but we are kind of a late starter kicking into the season.
Great Ocean Road Classic
31.1. | flat | Captain: Luka Mezgec | C2HC | Value: |
| Luka Mezgec | Sprinter | | Gasper Katrasnik | Domestique | | Siarhei Papok | Leadout | | Mikhel Räim | Domestique | | Jempy Drucker | Leadout | | Martin Laas | Domestique | | Albert Timmer | Free Role | | Aksel Nommela | Domestique |
The great sprinters of the Continental Tour will croud themselves in Australia to the first flat race of the season. Most likely the race will come into a sprint finish, especially as all teams will be eager to not lose the first chance of this season for a sprint royale.
We guess that all the main sprinters will contest here, if not it could be Albert Timmer playing a role with an attack here. But if our main man Mezgec feels goof he could become part of a train, which combines flat power (Katrasnik, Timmer) with pure speed (Nommela & Räim) in the earlier stages. Our final 3 men should be classics powerhouse Drucker, penultimate man Papok and Mezgec to finish it off.
Following this the focus of ours lays in the goal to establish a functioning leadout. We don´t even have material goals here in terms of points here, but to see a working composition of our team here would leave us to bright expectations for this season.
Everything above that is a bonus. We might see Mezgec as something like #10 in the ranking of favourites, and if he finishes there we´re very happy with our local boy. A top 5 or even more would be the cherry on our seasoning opener cake.

Great Ocean Road Classic / January Review
Our initial plan was a Top10 with Mezgec in a sprint. It turned out to be so different...
The wind really ripped the race apart, and we presented ourselves always on the front lines. Everyone but (surprisingly) Papok made the first big split. Further in the race several riders couldn´t follow, sadly including our leader Mezgec. Still 2 #meninlime made it into the final selection of 10 going onto the final selection.
While Drucker was pretty cooked Albert Timmer, our joker, had nearly the most reserves left. Only surprising rider Connolly had slightly more to offer and fought from Timmers backwheel to victory.
What a well deserved victory for our brothers in lime, still we´re more than happy with the podium and the surprising points won. We also shown our beautiful colours on coverage very well. Drucker still came 8th and Luka was #5 in the bunch sprint, which is really decent. Also all of our rooks looked good, all making the split and Katrasnik bringing himself onto P34.
1 | William Connolly | Schuh powered by Wiggle | 4h39'57 | 2 | Albert Timmer | Isostar - Adriatic | s.t. | 3 | Ricki Nelson | Podium Ambition | s.t. | 8 | Jempy Drucker | Isostar - Adriatic | s.t. | 13 | Luka Mezgec | Isostar - Adriatic | s.t. |
As this was our only January race it´s hard to point out a different conclusion to this race than to january. All we can say is that we started much better than expected, both racing- and pointwise. We came around with the most points of the GORC tied with Podium Ambition (80), which is very nice for our podium ambitions (what a bad pun ).
#maninlime of the month: Albert Timmer
What a show of strength our dutch joker shown in Down Under. Who else should stand here than the showtime powerhouse? The pic is showing Timmer leading Great Ocean Road Race in full lime outfit with 600m to go.

After a successful start at the GORC we have two races this month. Clashing, but the two of them are as contrary as they could be.
Geraardsbergen - Bosberg
21.2. | cobbled | Captain: Jempy Drucker | C2HC | Value: |
| Jempy Drucker | Captain | | Grega Bole | Domestique | | Luka Mezgec | Domestique | | Mikhel Räim | Domestique | | Albert Timmer | Domestique | | Luka Pibernik | Domestique |
This will be a tough race for us. We don´t have fitting support here, which will make things very tough. Drucker loves cobbles, but uphill is not good for him. If he manages to come until the line with a reduced bunch then even a victory is possible. If not, this could be a desaster couse we have no second-tier cobbler on our squad to support him or be Plan B. But this could easily become a waste of racedays, especially for our "useless" leaders here.
Goal: Top 5
Tour of the Midde East
17.2.-28.2. | CT GT | Captain: Igor Anton | C2 | Value: |
| Igor Anton | Captain | | Martin Laas | Domestique | | Andrew Tennant | Free Role | | Aksel Nommela | Domestique | | Siarhei Papok | Sprinter | | Gasper Katrasnik | Domestique | | Egidijus Juodvalkis | Domestique | | Gabor Kasa | Domestique |
Maybe we should call it the gamble. There are stages for every type of rider, and we brought one for every stage despite a puncheur for the first 3. Simply because we don´t want sombody preventing Igor Anton from taking the captain role.
Igor Anton should mix in with the best. He has some acceptable hill and TT + good back-ups, which should make him a real contender for the overall. We mostly fear de la Cruz, Pomoshnikov and Tvetcov here, with Garby, Salinas and Sella in mind.
Anton has Juodvalkis to help him on the climbs, which could become really crucial. A pure climbing lieutenant. We also have 3 young guys to gain their experience.
Tennant and Kasa are the TT guys. While Tennant should be active on the flat stages, Kasa is the guy for helping on every terrain with his versatility. Close to the end there is the deciding Time Trial, where Tennant aims for the win and Kasa for the Top10. We feel like Tennant could be our biggest shot on the stage win here, especially as Yatsevich is not here. But he would also make for a great finesseur attack.
Finally we have Papok there to mix into the sprints. He could contest for some Top5s, but shouldn´t be able to beat the top guys. Without a sprint train this could become a tough challenge for him, but maybe he could sneak some Top5s.
Goal: Top 3 GC & Stage Win

We have a very warm day today in the Middle East, all the teams that are already here are trying to acclimate with the weather conditions. The guys just came back from a small ride, though most of them didn´t really feel comfortable with the temperatures. Another story for our captain Anton, who looks fit & fresh for the start of his mission of taking an overall podium here. The bookmakers favourize the trio of Garby, de la Cruz and him, but there are so many more guys to watch out for:
| MO | HI | TT | REC | | MO | HI | TT | REC | Garby | 79 | 70 | 68 | 75 | Hirschlein | 77 | 71 | 69 | 72 | Antón | 78 | 73 | 70 | 74 | Martinez | 76 | 72 | 73 | 76 | Pomoshnikov | 78 | 74 | 64 | 74 | Khripta | 76 | 75 | 65 | 70 | De la Cruz | 78 | 75 | 74 | 75 | De Marchi | 76 | 74 | 65 | 74 | Tvetcov | 77 | 75 | 74 | 76 | Kung | 76 | 76 | 66 | 67 | Hacecký | 77 | 70 | 68 | 76 | Zoidl | 75 | 74 | 76 | 72 | Salinas | 77 | 73 | 71 | 70 | de Clercq | 75 | 73 | 70 | 75 |
For the first stage, a punchy one, Grega Bole could've been the perfect man, to challenge my pick for today, Simon Geschke. We didn´t brought him here for the simple reason that Anton should be the captain on every stage with rises, and that the teams knows 100% who to dedicate their services to.
What could do the trick for our guy Anton is his fast acceleration, and the dream scenario is to put already time into Garby. Still this will be a tough job to do, as we have to fear de la Cruz though. But normally this should be a day for an early breakaway and a peloton that is kept together very long.
What will bring some additional falvour into this is our bet with the manager of Xero about which team manages to score more from this. As both teams had a decent season opener we need to outscore them here to get into the lead, and dropping their guys on the first stage would be a decent step to achieve that.

The first 7 stages are done down here. We've seen plenty of attacks, Laas, Katrasnik and Kasa showing themselves, Laas even more than once. Pictures will come later. Our 3 main riders disappointed though:
Tennant did not live up to the expectations, going on the attack once is not enough for his finesseur abilities. After his time-loss he should've been more agressive.
Papok. Is he even there for sprints?
On the bright side Anton did a powerful attack. On the dark side it was compelety at the wrong time and even more on the wrong place. An early attack on the last climb could've meant yellow jearsey and with it a performance boost and ranking spot. Instead he wasted much energy and important seconds to other guys. Now there are some great stages to come and guys, we need results now!

Breakaways: We are continuing our appearance. Gabor Kasa is our most aggressive #meninlime here and would easily get the red number at the end of the tour if there was one. Joining the morning breaks on each of the 3 climbing stages he showed our jersey well, sadly he couldn't get any results and is far off the top of the KOM classement.
Antón: Tough times. He looked promising before the mountain stages to completely hide himself far off the top then. On stage 10 he kind of broke the ice with a third place, our best stage result so far, but that was far away of what we expected. A podium seems to be too far away to grab for Antón, especially in his mediocre form.
Stage 11: Could be the savior stage. Tennant is a main contestant for the win for sure, Kasa could have an outside shot on a great day. Antón has a slim chance of climbing into the top3, at least Pomoshnikov should be in sight.
Stage 12: Rolling home. Either happy or most likely pissed.

Stage 11: Andrew Tennant was the big favourite. He couldn't live up to the expectations the whole race. Beneath quiet performances he took a second here, which makes it wasted race days. Kasa with an ok performance in 11th.
Anton did an okay Time Trial, but profited by the worse showings to climb at least on the podium of the GC. That means at least an acceptable compensation for horrible showings.
Tennant TTing near to the finish on Stage 11
Stage 12 left me speechless once again. The team, came here with no big sprinter, makes nearly every break but the biggest one with the huge surviving chance. That what I call the opposite of smart tactics. Howether the break without Isostar survived, we did nothing. Papok with his last disappointment.
Race Review
Final Points: 59
Best Results: 3rd GC (Anton), 2 stage podiums (Tennant 2nd on Stage 11, Anton 3rd on Stage 10)
General Classification: This was an ok performance GC wise. Antón quiet when he should attack and attacking when he should be quiet. 3rd though is not disappointing, the way it was achieved was. 5/10
Breakaways: We managed to cover every unsuccessful move. I'm stunned by the racing of Nommela, Laas, Kasa and Katrasnik here to go in early breaks. Shame that they couldn't reach the successful ones. 7/10
Stage Results: Antón with 1 top 3 is far too less for an attacking guy that had the odds on him and didn't get blocked by breakaways. Papok didn't even try to sprint, he'll never get that role again. Tennant tried nothing with his superior flat stat, and couldn't win the TT that should've suited him best of the whole season against the worst possible opponence. Shocking. 1.5/10
Man of the Race: I refuse to set Antón here despite being the only scorer, but instead I set Kasa for his 4 breakaway appearances and many TV kms.
Retard of the Race: So many options, could've easily been one of the leaders, but I guess it's a tie between Juodvalkis and Papok for refusing their work.

Goal: Top 5
The race: It was incredibly fast at the beginning, our riders covered some splits well though. Surprisingly the later the race went the slower the pace, so a bigger group than expected came to the finish together. Drucker always rode in contension with the leading riders of the main favourites group, that could pull back every attempt for getting away.
At the end it was a sprint only PCM does. Uphill on cobbles, the best placed guy won. This time it was De Haes for Chiquita, our leader Jempy came in in 6th.
1 | Kenny De Haes | Chiquita - Universal | 5h02'52 | 2 | Thiago Duarte Nardin | Podium Ambition | s.t. | 3 | Geraint Thomas | Podium Ambition | s.t. | 4 | Georgios Karatzios | Elta - Hellenic Post | s.t. | 5 | Filippo Pozzato | Ferrero - Samruk | s.t. | 6 | Jempy Drucker | Isostar - Adriatic | s.t. |
Result: Mezgec with some nice early coverage of groups, from then on only Drucker was seen. Nothing spectacular from him, but also an acceptable result. P6 is okay, but slightly less than what we aimed for. 5/10

Underwhelming start for Anton's CT career it seems. Hoped he would show himself a bit more now that he has taken the step down two years in a row now.
Drucker doing decent I guess, hopefully the next races will feature some more impressive team performances though!

Grand Prix Herning
2.3. | cobbled | Captain: Jempy Drucker | C1 | Value: |
| Jempy Drucker | Captain | | Martin Laas | Domestique | | Gasper Katrasnik | Domestique | | Mikhel Räim | Domestique | | Albert Timmer | Domestique | | Luka Pibernik | Domestique | | Aksel Nommela | Domestique |
Bostjan Mervar, DS for the GP Herning
Goal: Top 10
The race: We came here with one captain having no Plan B than going into the break. Katrasnik accomplished the breakaway attempt,...
...sadly without any success for a result. Our only captain Drucker crashed out, due to a crash most likely caused by 5th Bush. A shame, so our only man with result ambitions was gone. At the end of the day the results look horrible, a complete sweep with DNFs.
1 | Geraint Thomas | Podium Ambition | 4h36'34 | 2 | Danny Summerhill | Azteca - NBCSN | s.t. | 3 | Sebastian Langeveld | Strava | s.t. |
Result: Drucker crashed out. Nobody finished the race. At least Katrasnik was in the break to show our jersey, the only bright side of the race. We didn't expect much, but more than nothing. 1.5/10
