Transfer Season 16/17
Riis123
The modern training hasnt payed of yet, I still wan't to see Rolland push 10% more watts in July. Im afraid we don't ever get to see that. Cannondale must be estatic, but they will find a way to ruin HUGH

I don't know about Mohoric himself, but some slovenian juniors has been caught for peds the last seasons and of what I've heard they are the dodgiest in the peloton. Organized mass-doping of juniors to get the most out of it before turning pros and get tested for it. I guess other countries have been using it as well, but Slovenia looks like the best example. Look at the huge talent of Slovenian youths and how few who actually have done something on the highest level. Mohoric is one example, Kump is another, Tratnik a third. Don't fully trust'em, I say.

Yes young Slovenians know what it takes. 10 years ago they also were the first to use CERA.

Not easy to have a good talent department when Bonifazio leaves the squad. He was pretty killer for a 21 year old last year. And Ulissi developed excellent in their squad imo.

I also thought Meintjes was pretty shit since his move too, and then he pulled off those July results. So Lampre actually did something right with Meintjes there.

Don't mind Copeland leaving Lampre.

What are the best italian talents right now at Lampre anyway. Cattaneo, Conti? Those guys don't sound like all that much unfortunately.

Petili is the main young Italian but he's only in his first year so hasn't shown much yet as a pro.

Interesting signing by Garmin but I'm not really sure why they did it. They need guys in pretty much every discipline- sprints, cobbles, hills, TT's, they are all in dire need. And yet they get another climber? Makes no sense.

Surely they are just getting ready for the Pro Peloton where doping is a requirement to succeed Wink

That is potentially their best climber in few years, i can see him competing for GT white jerseys in year or two. Wink
So great move for them i would say...

Don't understand this decision - he'd have been useful in the WT teams, but why would he choose a team, which may not receive wildcard for any of the GT races?

To be fair. After a good first year with Trek, he was quite weak in past seasons.
So going back to a lower division, where he has more chances himself, is a good move for him.
Why should he focus GT`s when he can`t even get a good result himself in 2.1 or 2.HC races at the moment.

The question is why Hugh Carthy would do it, its a perfect signing for Cannondale....

He's also had injury problems to go with that bad form so I can understand why he would be stepping back down a level, if you are struggling with injury and form then racing in a WT squad can cause more harm than good. He'll have freedom at Nippo and clearly has enjoyed success there before and Nippo get invites to pretty much the entire Italian racing calendar including the Giro which suits a rider like Arredondo

Vaughters is a good salesman perhaps? He's managed to sign some good riders over time so maybe he promised Carthy the world Wink It does make some sense for Carthy to go to Cannondale, they are WT with very few outright leaders when races head uphill so he will get plenty of opportunities to ride for himself and build on his palmares before signing for better money at a better team.

Or his career will completely stall and he loses 2 years of what was a promising career

Hmmm unsure...they had Kumer lately, but I guess it depends on where you´re at - there are also examples for the other way round, if you f.e. look at the career way of Primoz Roglic...

To put Mohoric in a row with other normal young cyclists is also pretty harsh...Mohoric is special, his technique and style is pretty unique, which alone pulls him away from comparisons with Tratnik, Kump (was he really good in yoyuth cycling? thought he was also a late kickstart), Per or dopehead Kumar

Fair enough, to be honest I know very little about him, and I was going completely on the fact that he peaked at 78 mtn in my Be a Pro in PCM Pfft

Zabeld or not..but Matthews has signed with Giant.

I like that one..perfect match for a rider and also for team. Giant is saved now. Great replacement for Dagenkolb. Matthews can do anything.
