I don´t really understand Roche´s move, what os he aiming for at BMC? He´ll most likely be in his Sky role just a bid higher up the train...TVG and Porte are just better than him.
Maybe Sky just wanted to replace him with an even stronger domestique and Roche got no great other offers, but that would surprise me a little
Seeing both TVG and Porte will target the Tour, he can target the Giro or Vuelta. Good move by him. |

do you really think both will target the Tour again? and don´t forget that there are more guys that might get the chance: Caruso for the Giro (who looked very strong in the third week), Atapuma, Sammy Sanchez for the Vuelta,...I doubt that there is much space left for leadership for Roche, especially if young guns like Frankiny develop as fast as they´re currently doing (on long term)

Couldnt Roche possibly target some of the Ardennes/Lombardia/San Sebastian types of races, Roche is never gonna be good enough to go for a GT win and he probably knows that.

Porte will be sole leader at next years Tour, I'd expect TVG to be at another GT next year or as a dom at the Tour. I heard a post Tour interview with Porte and he said they would be bringing in a couple of climbing dom's dedicated to him for next years Tour so he could of been talking about Roche. I very much doubt BMC would be signing Roche to lead at either the Giro or Vuelta, he's not a GT leader and he's proven that.

I would put up BMC like this for next season:
Tours:
Porte: Tour & 1-week races
TVG: Vuelta & Complementary 1-week races
Caruso: Giro (could be a popular choice being one of the "most Italian" WT teams left next year) & domestique on more GTs
Atapuma: Stage hunter (KOMs?), maybe Co-Captain at the Giro
Sammy Sanchez: Road Captain for Porte at the Tour, maybe Vuelta stage hunter/second option, 1-week superdomestique
[De Marchi]: Stage Hunter for especially smaller tours
hilly classics:
Option #1: Gilbert (but will he stay?)
Option #2: van Avermaet (he looks much stronger than Roche for me)
Option #3: Sammy Sanchez (old but gold)
additional options: developing talents (like Dillier)
where is the space for Roche besides helping Porte or TVG?
- penultimate man for longer-range Ardennes attacks? He´s not that rider type.
- Stage hunter? Is he better than Atapuma or de Marchi in terms of that?
- second option for GCs? does he really want that?
Even if de Marchi and Gilbert go there is really no spot to lead a team for him. Only thing I can imagine is that SKY didn´t offer him a new contract and he took the spot where he get´s the most cash. But it would surprise me if that´s his highest aim. Like this I see him ending up as the new Peter Velits.

I'd say that Sanchez will be leader at the Ardennes (he already had good results there the last two years) and GVA will be leader at the cobbled classics.
Gilbert leaving is pretty sure if I'm not wrong.

If I'm not wrong, Gilbert is close to sign with Etixx according to Het Nieuwsblad. Also (that's less important), Wiśniowski from Etixx to Sky probably. |

Quite a strange few years for Roche. He could get leadership opportunities like he used to when he was a talent at Ag2r, but instead bounces around the few teams where he would be too low on the pecking order. First Saxo, then Sky, and now BMC. I still think he will get more freedom at BMC but because of the last few years I think his stage race leadership opportunities may have passed by.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

According to this article, both Vermote and Wisniowski have renewed with Etixx turning down the offers made by Sky.
Further, Verona to Orica confirmed, Geniez, Naesen and Vandenbergh would join AG2R, Fenn would leave Sky.

Strong rumours about Bennati to Movistar. Would be a very welcome addition
Also, Carapaz will ride at Movistar for the remainder of 2016, his first race will be l'Ain. |

From this article the rumours are following:
Astana and Bora are looking to poach from the Tinkoff outfit
Kreuziger is linked to Katusha
Guardini is linked to either Lampre or the Bahrain outfit (I guess this team will be ran by Italians, but the money will be Bahraini)
Tony Martin is linked to Bora

Cam Meyer is retiring, Jesse Sergent is also retiring because of his injuries sustained by the Shimano car in Flanders. This is a shame, I really like these two riders, both prematurely retiring. |

He responded to a tweet asking him if he's retiring by saying it's just a rumour

A rider from Equador who rode for Lizarte this year and has done super well. Should be a good talent, but he is 23 y/o now, so not that young. Will be interesting to follow him in his first races. |

Cameron Meyer hasn't officially retired, he's quit road cycling for certain private reasons but will race again at some stage on the track which he's been a World Champion in the Madison, Points Race and Team Pursuit
