Never underestimate the Pokerstar-train, it's still the green menace of the sprints

Kind of worrying start, with no attempts to help Kristoff and form a train, with the seven other riders finishing from 156th to 172nd. Considering that, I'm happy with 8th.
Great start from Degenkolb, perfect leadout from Mohs, and Degenkolb never looked like he was going to get passed by the other sprinters. Congratulations, beagle! |

No surprise to see the three fastest sprinters at the front from the first stage |

Stunning performance by Pokerstars, Mohs and Degenkolb made it look easy. Netia with some great performance here, sad stuff that they can´t take any points out of this.

Back from the wilderness. Quiet start, although I wasn't expecting Meyer to get involved in the sprints with the huge depth in talent. Was laughing when he was earmarked as a potential winner in the preview
Our best hope of points is a couple of top 20 GC finishes from him and Sergent after the final TT. |

Degenkolb training money is probably the best invested money this year. He'll be crucial for Pokerstars and if well planned he can outscore Swift imo.
Great report Danny, beautiful screenshots.

It was always going to be a gamble to put Tzortzakis here as he is a better sprinter than Coquard - And seeing as Coquard didnt sprint it was a mistake. Having Coquard taking a few seconds on the flat stages could have put him in the top 5 of the GC in the end.
Atleast Tzorzakis did well. I will have to find satisfaction in that. Hopefully this will be a strong race for my greeks

Knew Pokestar would be strong here - lets see if they have energy to bring Degen in such positions everyday and if my prediction holds up.
Van Stayen getting the best wheel here and still only gets 8th, wonder what happened.

72 Danilo Kupfernagel Karcher-Adira s.t.
Ok so that's how it will be, can we move to the final stage where perhaps Fiedler can do something

He is 83/77, think that hurts him againts other top sprinters. Honestly i would never send him to this race, rather use his precious 54 race days to more hilly stuff, where he can play his strengts better...

I understand your thought well and I was considering not sending him here for quite some time but decided against it because
a) he seemed to do okayish last year here - Top 10 GC and Top 5 Points classification and if he repeats a similar performance than I would be happy about it!
b) I hope that my team works for him and protects him. If my prologue specialists Stoltz and Chavanne and those flat beasts work for VS then they are more likely to avoid splits and thus, I hope that by sending Van Stayen the production of the rest of my team here will increase (GC points!)
c) With Skujins and GVA I have guys who can lead on very similar terrains. While planning my selections I tried to split them up to have them in as many races as possible. And he was the only one who can do perform in a race like this
tl;dr I think it was the best decision to maximize my team's production even if another planning might have offered a better individual ranking result for VS
Thanks for your opinion. Much appreciated!

Sometimes you just have to take those "risks".
Hope it can still work out for you and Van Staeyen. Only one stage down, nothing's lost yet! |

well Dan Mclay was 41st that's something considering his low stats
Honestly don't expect much though so a couple of breakaways would be swell |

Not going to complain about being 4th best out of the sprinters (i don't count the lucky first two that just wind random BS). If Cav can nab a top five or two I will be pretty happy and then nail a decent Epilogue then it will be job done in Operation keep Smowz relavant (I don't wanna go down U bend (PCT) please)
Bad one for Festina there an early blow in the hunt for team standings for sure - Vesuvio unlikely to score high that said as yet no Bewley boshing which is a mild surprise.
By the way what Netia were doing I have no idea!
Finally Goss got a top twenty I am out to buy him 3 burgers.

Swift/Bewley is killing themself in the search of jumping onto other trains it seems, since their team is incapable of creating them.
Great win for Kennaugh here though, surprising 1-2!
