2011 which was pretty much the best Tour since 2003.
Yes, I'm serious.
Very serious.

followed since the start of the century but have watched most of them since the 80's (as much as I could find really) and have never seen a "GC fight" (hard to call it a fight) as pathetic as this. Not only for 1st but for all places

Really booooooring GC, but Froome is not to blame.. He attacked in the wind (flat), downhill, MTF and beet them it the TT's deserved one, I think.
Seems like everyone was happy with their positions in the GC. |

Tbh Mollema earned a lot more respect for me than almost all of the top 10!
Only Kreuziger made up today.

1. Froome
2. Yates
3. Bardet
Mollema keeping 2nd would be nice, but preferring youth over him
Ah unfortunate to see Yates only as 4th. Would've loved him on the podium
Although it'll be fun to see Quintana next to Froome. First time he'll see Froome's face this Tour. |

Giro11, the reason why I never watched the Giro till this year.

Given how no one apart from Astana could take the pace off Sky this tour(and fat lot of good that did), I don't see any team getting close to him for years to come.
Quintana - doesn't have the team or stamina
Martin - can only punch attack and can't time trial
Porte - needs support which BMC doesn't have
Bardet - got years on him but again AG2R don't have anyone to tow him up
Aru - One-Giro pony |

I haven't looked that much into possibillity of it, but it would be nice if organisers would try to find more steeper climbers, albeit shorter. That definitely would open up the race more and would give lesser chance for teams to just some sort of precalculated optimal pace. |

I keep wondering where Valverde would've finished had it not been for Nairo. His performance here after his 3rd place in the Giro in commendable.
Valverde is still the best rider in Movistar. Nairo still has some time to go. He has age on his side though.

That is if you assume Froome will stay as strong and stay Sky leader for the years to come.
And stays upright, doesn't crash.
And no bad luck with a puncture up a mountain.
And no cobbled stages planned in the future.
And...
Point I'm trying to make: much can happen in 21 races and cycling history is full of examples of riders losing races they "could never lose".
We'll see next year |

The Gardeccia stage contained more action than the entirety of some GTs!

I think you need to look at more punchier finishes, 2km kicker finishes that would get Bardet, Martin et al chances at time bonuses. |

ian is right
and not always but usually the last tour they win is the most dominant
so they are usually dethroned when nobody expects anyone else to have a chance |
