Trekbmc's Stages
Another game, another thread, my last thread was largely aimed at getting the feedback and improving (or at least at the start) and while I still want to improve, I'm going to treat this thread as more of a showroom.
Requests
I'll be open to requests all the time but I won't necessarily accept them, I don't mind if you send a PM or post in this thread. Classics I'll almost definitely do unless I have too much on my plate, stage races depend on length, motivation, etc. I'll likely be open to do it but bear in mind I might reject your request or ask you to shorten it.
You can be as detailed as you like with the route, if you send a GPX file, include the route map and if you don't have a specific route, try not to be too vague (the minimum I'd accept is x terrain in x region of x country)

GP Spangereid
4 Laps around Spangereid in the South of Norway, a particularly hilly area but also with many lakes and rivers and terrain that borders on fjords. The race is hilly, although the hills aren't too severe so unless someone manages to break away, it'll finish in a sprint up the final climb.

What a shit, Cyanide made the new pcm16 so not even work in pcm15.
And everyone jumping on the bandwagon.
Sad you didn't do it in pcm15 THEN upgraded it.

Didn't realise this was a problem, although not really sure what I can do about it, since the pcm15 editor is on a much slower computer, so making stages on that again isn't really desirable.
Do you know if it's possible to convert stages back to pcm15?

The big problem with this new pcm16 is the addition of Villages in Wallhouse.
The stage files saves a value if you selected old WallHouse or this new Village selection. Even if one makes a change from the this to Wallhouse you got another parameter that is just "sitting" Village North and so on. This is obviously taken in to the file and the pcm15 crashes when this "unknown" value pops up.
It makes stages made in pcm16 impssible to convert back (as pcm15 to pcm14).
Lots of folks blame the new IBs and 2 fences, together with some new Wallhouse selections, but those could easily be implemented in pcm15 and even pcm14. A little XML work in some 6-7 files, but that's doable.
So this is a BIG step by Cyanide. BUY the new game !!!!! We need more cash. Probably also the problem that no older stages work in this new pcm16. Guess it has been done in the past too.
Very sad business-like move. Not uncommon sad to say.
Wish they would have addressed some other matters instead, but I guess it's only small crew of programmers taking their first steps.
However I keep digging and see if this can't be over-come. Old dogs have a lot of tricks you know

hmm, maybe that would be fixable then if I delete the Wallhouses in the pcm16 editor then add them back in pcm15? iirc I only used Wallhouse options and IBs available in pcm15 for this stage, so I don't see why it wouldn't work but I'll have to play around with it on the editor.

Not sure that will do, since the value of parameters from pcm16 sticks. I will look more careful so no other stuff is messing this up. My bet on this new option of Villages in Wallhouse is still on as the culprit.
If this is true ALL stages will be impossible, not like pcm15 when you left out spline description (pcm15 had new values of naming COL, COB and some others) it worked in pcm14 without converting.
Of course it even then needed to do some XML stuff with wallhouses that included new IBs like Netherland houses and such.
Lets hope the last word isn't said yet. You could indeed try it yourself, if ALL wallhouses either changed or even deleted.
I've not 100% thrown in the towel yet
Not sure with that you only used IBs in wallhouses from pcm15. You got some of the new Center or Alps in, what I can see. Not sure....

@clamel: hmm, not sure what to do then, I'll still see if I can open it in pcm15 with the Wallhouses deleted, and I forgot that I had included one of the Alpes Wallhouses, although that could probably be replaced with a North Wallhouse as I used that for more cities. Still, hopefully it can be solved, so let me know if you work it out.
@emre: Thanks!

I keep testing and messing for sure. I do hope if you got plans for another similar stage that you start up in pcm15, if possible. Keep it for pcm15, then copy a similar stage and open and save in pcm16. Now yougot two similar stages saved in two different format.
Test of the stage saved in pcm16, should then be tried in pcm15. Then we know if pcm16 have added some parameter that isn't shown directly. If that stage crash in pcm15 we are truly f_cked
You get my drift....

Course Du Zaio
10 laps around Zaio, the route is mostly flat but there is a hill each lap that starts off light and gets steep at the top, it's followed by a section of cobblestones before the finish so the route is kept very open for attackers to escape before the sprint.

Decided to make a variant for the Belgian NC, feedback would be appreciated especially as I'll use the same zcts for a time trial in a few days as well.
Belgian National Championships Variant - Florenville
A Belgian championship course around Florenville, a very tough course as the course is always going up and down, never giving the riders a chance to rest their legs over the 245km race.

It looks pretty good, but since you've asked for feedback, here are some things that I think could be improved:
1) Around Herbeumont, you weren't very careful with putting the river at the very bottom of the valley so you get this strange looking result of river being above the both roads that are parallel to it at some points.
2) Also regarding the rivers, I think they usually look more realistic if you decrease the depth from the default value of 80 to something between 10 and 25.
3) In Herbeumont there is one house, which is at a strange angle. There is a tickbox you can use to make it vertical by default (something like "follow landscape" ).
4) In Florenville you have two benches intersecting the borders and pavements on the parking lot, where you most probably didn't want any.
5) A minor point: Some roads (outside of the actual route) cut through the landscape and rise above it in unnatural ways. The way to resolve this is to either use more road spline point for these roads so that they follow the landscape or adjust the terrain around it (the tool I use for this purpose is terrain flatten with very small weight - around 0.05) so that it looks more natural.

I've made GPX files of Worlds variant in Sofia, Bulgaria. If you're interested in making the routes, I can send you the GPX files.
NOTE: the route for the road race features some cobbled sections at the start of the lap.

The second and final stage of GP Liberty Seguros, more of a hilly stage but still tends to end as a reduced bunch sprint.
