I don't even get that riding on the flat for 60 km.
My average on this stage would be like 3 km/h including my nap and supper
Well if you had the "help" they do then I'm sure you could go much faster
Even with their bikes, their nutrition, the shelter behind some other rider and some rested legs, you could probably go 3 km/h quicker on average.
you are underestimante the effect of naps and suppers on your average

It would of been better if they had been doing this before they announced the team was folding, guess the motivation of riding for a contract has got the IAM boys going

Is Quintana trying to beat his mentor Andy Schleck?
Considering Froome is better in on the a) downhills and b) flat, its pretty obvious that you are gotta wait for a MTF to try. Especially when it seems Froome will be stronger anyways
Yep... cant wait for Quintana to go full Pantani and pull 3mins in 4km... xD
Yeah thats obviously whats going to happen
well, how is he gonna win attacking solely on MTFs?
the maths dont add up... unless he is racing for 2nd...
You missed the memo.
Froome is stronger downhill, on the flats and have the best team. And he is most likely to be better in the mountains. |

Is there somebody who thinks that Contador will be able to beat Froome in 2017?
Maybe TVG should try GIRO and Porte should be the only one team leader for le Tour. |

If you're saying you don't think Quintana could ever have won, that's a quite a quick turnaround.

Maybe only Froome and some sprinters should try the Tour next year as no-one else seems to give a fuck about winning

Yeah, thats really boring to see only wheelsucking...Where are those long-range attacks like Andy Schleck? They disappeared from cycling since SKY. |

Contador will not win another TDF
I think it would be good to see TVG try another GT but he does suffer in bad weather so the Giro could be tricky but he needs to step away from the Tour and target something else unless we get another 2012 route (please let that never happen again)

Totally true. I was watching TDF stages from 08-11 the last few days and racing was just so much different. Even teams ho were insanely strong at times like Astana or Saxo who could have done a sky type train didn't. It was so much more exciting all the time and outsiders were so much more likely to attack because they figured a rider from the strong teams was as likely to go with them as they were to sit on the front and pace.

Schlock did that one time; he had put himself in that situation and Evans had a downright horrendous team in the mountains. One time. Its completely suicidal to attack long range against this Sky-squad, its even better than 2012. |

Yep Schleck would of been reeled in on that stage to the Galibier or never been given the gap in the first place had there been a team as strong or even half as strong as Sky in the race. Outside of that day Andy was a rider who would attack late on the MTF's, he really wasn't the exciting rider some seem to be making him out to be.

Exactly. A mighty fine climber and EXTREMELY elegant, probably better than Quintana in absolute peak shape, less well rounded, but was never an attacking rider per se. |

I thought he would win 2 weeks ago, not so much now. Froome has proved much better and as I said, the circumstances werent in his favour today to try something. |

Okay yes in current situation schleck would be reeled in.. But I think that the real problem is that there is no salary cap in cycling like in NHL. Then you get one super strong team who has potential leaders working as domestiques for their super strong team leader. You can not compete against them when your squad is nowhere in terms of strenght in Mountains |

the problem with Quintana is that he is just soo formulaic, so predictable, no wonder racing is so crap when Movistar send a man in the break, then do fuck all all day so Sky are strong when it matters. They then run out of ideas so Valv puts a small dig knowing he needs to save energy for his own GC. Quintana finally attacks then gets marked tp death and Froome wins lol
I'd respect him more if he tried something different and fell on his sword as 2nd in the tour means fuck all when you've done it before

L-B-L? Absurdly stronger than the rest.
Le Grand Bornand was a case of getting his brother on the podium. It was a necessity since it by far was the hardest stage of that Tour.
Madeleine was all Astana and Contador's work. |

I have doubts about Quintana comes in second place this year, he has enough to do to try to keep up, maybe he's better in 20 stage , if the others are tired there.
Second place is really exciting this year
Unlike last year when Quintana was safe in second place after the first mountain stage

Oh boy, how I love those second week analysis. Almost as hopeless as after last years's stage 10. |
