Hopefully this means we'll see a third week full of attacks from Porte, Mollema, Yates, Quintana, Valverde, etc. Maybe they can crack Froome and make it a race, unlikely though.
I think Yates will be just trying to hold onto wheels at this stage as he's sitting much higher in the GC than he or OBE expected, maybe if he's sees an opportunity close to the end of a stage or if he loses a chunk of time and then goes a stage win later in the race. The way Mollema is racing I can see him having a dig at some stage but with his GC position sky will feel him back in, same goes for Quintana and Valverde. Porte or even TVG might be able to sneak away as they can both can attack on a good day but unless Froome falls ill or has done to much work in these first to weeks Sky won't let anybody get to far ahead. The only rider I can see capable of pulling back any significant time on a stage is Quintana but something doesn't look right with him over the last 2 days.

After Ax-3-Domaines, he has performed like trash in the mountains in TdF. He had that one stage in T-A where he came second to Nairo, but his climbing has been very suspect and not super reliable on the big scenes
To go from that to this. What has happened? No clue, but he is transformed. Remember when he lost 8 minutes in 14 in the ITT? Gone, Bauke has become a man. Still not a pretty one.
That's a bit harsh to call his climbing trash in the TDF since that day on Ax-3-Domaines, he put in a pretty good performance on Ventoux that same Tour, had 2 good stages in the Pyrenees in 2014 and last year did well into Cauterets and La Toussuire. He has certainly steeped up a level in this Tour so far but calling his climbing trash in previous Tours since Ax-3 is over the top

Also he has 26 pro wins so far compared to rubber neck Andys 6 pro wins.
Not bad for such a negative racer

It went as I predicted The race is over. Froome is a beast. TDF 3 wins for Froome. This man is a level far above all others. In 2013 and 2015 was finished after the first mountain stage, of this year is finished after first time trial. Can not see anyone beat him for many years, unless he rushes as in 2014. Contador is not at its best days longer and down-going. Quintana is far from an equally good cyclist and has only one chance on 19 and 20 stage if they end upwards a mountain, TDF is 21 stages, not 2. Froome is the new Tour de France King, the new Armstrong. Tour de France will be like my image for many years:

Second place and third place looks exciting.
Still think Quintana will be second place and maybe may win a bit of lost time at the end of the race, also people think he has a chance next year which he has not...

is scrolling fast over Arberg post like ignoring stone age? At least I am keep doing that.
All fun should be still ahead..but I am already pessimistic about this year tour. Such domination focusing for one race is bad for that great race.
Froomy seems to be out of reach (I still hope that some guy will make it harder for him). Most unlucky guy Porte having he's best GT ever (so far..because as Daily reader I should know that he is not GT rider and will lose soon 15 minutes per stage, lets hope not, As btw. Valverde is not wheel sucker..)
Yates has been just amazing..Mochema better then ever..Valverde just superb after Giro..Aru will be there also (lost to much time with TT)..Nairo is biggest question mark so far...Kreuziger is just keep on fading..I miss Bertie with he's 2016 top form just to annoy Froomy...Few Bardet attack also..bad that Pinot is not riding for GC
What a riders list we have there. Still names like Kruijswjik, Chaves, Nibali , Valverde give us stunning show compared to this. |

Mollema second in GC, who knew. I shall be quiet. If he makes Tour podium, I'll never make fun of Trek again - as hard as that may be
Kreuziger in 11th. So much for Contador should domestique for him., surprise surprise
I practically seen no stages live so far except for a few shots on the first day. From the looks of it, I'm really not missing much tho.

Never thought I would see the day where BAUKE MOLLEMA was Froome's biggest opponent.
Well stop talking. Dumoulin was close to win vuelta but dutch luck caught him after all
Not..non climbers legs caught him there. Not luck issue back then
