Can't believe the staggering amount of people that thought that this attack was a good tactical move. Yeah, of course it's a eye candy for me as a viewer, but that dig that he had to make seems unreasonable, especially from usually tactically near perfect Sky.
One of the few weaknesses in the past for Froome has been the downhill ability for sure, now he shows that he has improved in that area. That should send a clear message, that it will be hard to beat him for sure. Not worth the 13 seconds, but perhaps worth making teams re-think their strategies.
Don't get this amazing downhill in terms of skill. It was more about being able to put more wattage as some already have stated. |

I do agree that this was in no way an hard descent though, with wide roads and clear sight on where the turns are. However when you practice something in training you usually only have yourself to compare to, but when training pays off when it really counts at the highest level, you have to applause the performance (which I don't say people doesn't

Nibali done the Giro and his suffering because of it.
Valverde also done the Giro and seems just as strong and has recovered better from it and he is older than Nibali. Big chapeau for Valverde

Wonder what Quintana is thinking now. He just let his biggest rival for the title ride away like nothing.
Not sure what all the posts like this are thinking, Quintana was grabbing a bidon as Freome went, making him missed the attack. Froome was faster down the descent especially as he was willing to take a lot of risks down it for a gap of 13 seconds, Quintana didn't do anything wrong and most likely a time gap like that won't be of importance to him.
Froome was barely away when Quintana was done with his bottle. He steered to the side and gambled that someone else would close the gap, which didn't happen. If I were riding for the win I wouldn't take that chance with someone like Froome.
But hell, maybe Nairo will destroy Froome uphill and I will have to eat my words. |

The best thing today was Kreuziger crushing Contador. Still remember Roman dragging Contadors lazy ass the whole 2013 tour. It's payback time. |

Froome needs around 2-3 minutes before last week. He had cobble help last year, so this is impressive way to start gaining some kind of gap.
I think he knows Quintana will be undroppable in last week, and most likely drop him, getting these seconds now is crucial. If after tomorrow and TT he doesn't have more than a minute gap he's in a bleak position.

You are overdramatising it here, but Roman definitely was stronger than Alberto in '13. The reason being there always was this belief that he would be stronger in the end, but apart from that ITT to Chorges, Contador was for some reason I still don't know a shadow of himself.
It will be interesting to see what Roman is capable of by himself. He is probably past his peak at this point, but not by much. 6h probably being his ceiling. |

Then why are you deliberatly telling the story wrong. It's the furthest thing from payback time imaginable.

Surely there are limits to what riders can do to fans. Pushing someone out of the way okay but throwing a fist in someone's face whose just running along.

Rodriguez and Aru going better than I thought, so far...
Purito in particular even going for time bonuses suggests he thinks the long run is possible. |

Maybe Froome will punch me on Ventoux too. I'll be running with World Champ jersey.
