Don't get this amazing downhill in terms of skill. It was more about being able to put more wattage as some already have stated. |

I do agree that this was in no way an hard descent though, with wide roads and clear sight on where the turns are. However when you practice something in training you usually only have yourself to compare to, but when training pays off when it really counts at the highest level, you have to applause the performance (which I don't say people doesn't

Nibali done the Giro and his suffering because of it.
Valverde also done the Giro and seems just as strong and has recovered better from it and he is older than Nibali. Big chapeau for Valverde

Froome needs around 2-3 minutes before last week. He had cobble help last year, so this is impressive way to start gaining some kind of gap.
I think he knows Quintana will be undroppable in last week, and most likely drop him, getting these seconds now is crucial. If after tomorrow and TT he doesn't have more than a minute gap he's in a bleak position.

You are overdramatising it here, but Roman definitely was stronger than Alberto in '13. The reason being there always was this belief that he would be stronger in the end, but apart from that ITT to Chorges, Contador was for some reason I still don't know a shadow of himself.
It will be interesting to see what Roman is capable of by himself. He is probably past his peak at this point, but not by much. 6h probably being his ceiling. |
