Break of the day is Fortuneo's Armindo Fonseca. Solo. For 220km. |

The Gorilla's still angry 'bout the first stage. Ever seen an angry groilla?
He'll bend the cranks today angry stomping to victory.
Or so I hope. |

Yep, on paper the most boring stage in the race will probably also turn out to be just that in reality. Transition stages down to Massif Central + Pyrenees if there ever was one. Today and tomorrow are unusually long, seemed like ASO couldn't wait to get the real race going. Good on them! |

"Hey mom, guess where I am. Correct, on TV for five hours straight!"
EDIT: I dont like solo breakaways on flat stages, but apparently Fonseca will get to ride through his hometown in front, so I can at least be happy for him.

Hahahahaha!! At least he's got that going for him! That'd be an incredible experience for the guy!

He could stop for a glass of wine with his mom, then.
Celebrate with his village pals.
Then when the peloton comes he could join them.

Yep, cut 1-2 down of those stages in the Tour. I know its hard due to its geography, but.... |

I understand that there's time and place for stages like this and that you don't have to search for every single Muur in every route to spice things up, but it would make so much more sense to cut this stage by 50 km. The average speed would be higher and teams would be more interested in sending their riders in breakaways, knowing that they won't have to ride in this hopeless break for +200km. |

I'm not even worried about stage winner now, but rather will the peloton be able to finish inside time limit. |

Voeckler already has a yellow bike because he knows hes going into the yellow jersey today. Sheer confidence. |

Loose clown on the bike spotted in the break with Fonseca, the local circus should do better job guarding them

Either Vöckler got bored or envious of Fonseca getting all the TV time for himself.
Anyhow: A very jobholder-friendly stage today. Even if you get off work at 5 and you still gotta do the groceries shopping, picking up the kids from kindergarten, visiting grandma at the hospital AND gotta cook. |
