PT Wildcards Announced, 2016
Gustavovskiy
Tremendous news for us! We were hoping to race a GT this season and getting to ride the Vuelta is just what we needed. Glad to be alongside our colombian counterpart as well.

Liechtenstein, Tirreno and especially Lisbon are great additions to our calendar as well and will prove crucial to developing our riders.

Thanks for these chances and for all the work behind all of this! Congrats to the rest of the PCT teams too.

Great news! I should be able to send Amador to PN and Suisse since there are no clashes, and Schumacher to give it one last go at the Deutschland Tour. I'm happy to race alongside Margh at our home race too, thanks!

For budget reasons, Valio – DeLaval have dropped out of their classics wildcard.

A slightly reshuffle then as a result:

Azteca - NBCSN gain a wildcard to Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne as they were the only other team to want a wildcard there.
Azteca's Strada Appia Antica wildcard is now moved to Porto - Prio.
And Eritel - Sonatrach will step in to fill the Copenhagen-Malmo TTT wildcard, as nobody else had applied there.

Well it sucks that Fiedler has to join for the Czech race, but I guess the best competition should be there Smile

Great news for my team. Smile
I hope the Kiserlovski, Denifl duo can cause some upset at the Giro.

I think it's not only with Fiedler that Coppel has to worryCool there is plenty of competition up to these two and we have to wait for the training to see how things will be

True. But Coppel will be trained Wink - And several of the worst competitors aren't eligeble for training: Zmorka, Cornu, Vlatos, Gonzalez Salas, Paillot, Howson, Viennet and Sütterlin - And a lot of the normal GC guys would be wasted on a race with two flat TT's and another two flat stages: Taaramae, Gesink, Tenorio and Kritskiy. And as several PCT TT'ers aren't riding either, the top field are quite narrow (Taking out the likes of: Cornu, van Winden, Salas, Paillot, Schädlich and a bunch of 79TT riders).

I would be very dissapointed if I'm not having atleast a GC podium and another top 10 from that race having riders like Coppel and Vlatos - Both in top 9 of TT riders eligeble to the race. And just for the heck of it, I have Coquard (78PRL, 81SPR) there aswell to see if I could get a decent sprint train where my TT'ers are kept towards the front at all times.

Oh no, no Fiedler in P-KV-P please, no. Sad

I hate PT wildcards - almost for free given the amount of money in the game and not any kind of restrictions, while i am allowed to send just useless scraps to PCT...definitely heavy shifted into favour of PCT teams, who can ruin our goals just like that, while we can do shit, if not by lucky break.

Edit: It was ok when PCT had like 80-81 leaders for that price of a wildcard, but now with 83TT and 84MO leaders in PCT, it is not funny anymore. Smile

I'm sorry but you'll have to take it with Fiedler in P-KV-P Cool
In part I can even agree with you, but we also have to see the negative side is that the PCT teams can not earn points in those races unlike the PT teams when participating in HC races

That is good point, but you also dont spend race days on it iirc?

We will try to beat Jacob there, nothing against your team personally, i just used it as example, where it hurts our chances to fullfil goal the most. Smile
I'll be back

I know it's nothing against me or my team and perfectly understand your point of view. And you're right that we do not spend race days, but I might prefer to spend and can get the points earned

As a newbie: Why is that even like that? I don´t see the point for PCT-teams not being able to get points in WT events, and I don´t see why it doesn´t cost race days either? Both looks really strange to me, and I can´t understand that restriction.

Because if it would cost race days, the PCT might not be so keen wasting their best riders race days against the better PT riders and it would result in them sending a weak team. And if it doesn't cost race days, it wouldn't be fair for them to get points out of it.

Yeah but should that be the deal? Would bikex still send Denifl to the Giro if it´s like that? It should be a gamble in my opinion - is it better to start in PT or in CT? Would also strengthen the value of team-depth in PCT, as the best stage-racer might "waste" a lot of race days in PT...

What also attracted my mind: Why do we have only 2 Wildcards per WT race - and not 4 like in the TDF in real life?

I think the way the PT wildcard system works currently is excellent - I'd be highly impressed if a better approach was put on the table that would be sufficient to change my view.

What alternatively is being mixed into this discussion (imo) is the stat inflation that keeps spiralling upwards and linked to this the 'narrow' focus of teams (in both PT and PCT) on a few lead riders with limited depth below. A number of team in PT are spending more on training a couple of riders than the entire budget of most if not all PCT teams. The potential that top PCT riders can make occasional appearances in PT races is one of the few mechanisms I can see that might help a move towards a little more focus and benefit on roster depth in the PT over a medium-long timescale than is currently the case.

Whatever the case, this is a very different discussion than how the PT wildcards operate, so if develops further, hopefully can remain separate discussions.

Because in the MG there are 20 PT teams, not 18 like in real life.

Minor correction to alexkr00 above - there are 22 teams in PT. As I understand it PCM has a limitation of 25 teams/200 riders maximum per race. Hence as 1 team required to be 'control', this leaves 2 slots free to distribute as wildcards.

I have no idea how many teams I'm up against Pfft

You're right about the riders/teams limit. If I remember correctly this is why we are no longer sending 9men teams to GTs.

Yeah, the limit of riders in game is 200. With 22 teams and 2 wildcards in a GT taking 9 men each, the limit would be surpassed and the game wouldn't just work.
