It's a shame the members didn't step up in July to complete all the training tasks.
As a result, I think I'm going to allow more members to join if they want.
Give this posts a Thanks rating to become a member if you aren't already. Doing so gives you more power in team decisions and donates $100 to the team.
Just found this topic today as I've been busy in PCM2016, but if it's not too late, I hit the thanks button and am ready to do a Viking's rage worth of work for the youngsters.
If I already now can make a request for scouting (when you get back to that at some point), I'd like if you went to Trinidad, hit up with the good ol' footballer Dwight Yorke to talk about Trinidian sports. He might also be able to point you in direction of someone who knows things about organized youth activityies and good talent.
@Founding members; Where's the love for the young baroudeurs? |

Farewell, Sylvester Departs!
Emotional day at the training facility today as Tajo Sylvester said his goodbyes before heading to Los Angeles to join the Galaxy youth academy.
It's tough to see him go, but the members decided not to open the can of worms of paying him to stay and having others start demanding a wage. So, all we can do is thank him for his service and wish him well on his new journey.
We will no doubt keep track of his soccer career, and who knows, maybe if it doesn't pan out then we could convince him to come back to us.
In the meantime, we have an open roster spot if we want to fill it.
Most votes in the next 24 hours is what we will do.
Note: All votes will count, not just members.
Good Idea = Scout 1 Area (Cost = $100)
Za(r)bel'd = Scout 2 Areas (Cost = $200)
Thanks = Scout 3 Areas (Cost = $300)
Thumbs Up = Scout 4 Areas (Cost = $400)
Thumbs Down = No Scouting/Don't Fill Spot (Cost = $0)

Voted thumbs down, got plenty of riders given our budget, better to focus resources on the boys in house. |

On the Road Again, More Scouting!
One man leaves, another will join. With the departure of Sylvester, the community decided it was best to go out and fill the vacant spot by doing a thorough scouting trip of four Caribbean nations. Where shall we go?
Recently, new member Lamba suggested this:

So, I'll head back to Trinidad. And I think it's only fair to let sammyt93 choose another scouting location considering Sylvester came from his request to scout the British Virgin Islands in the first place.
So, that leaves two more scouting locations.
I'll go to the first two places mentioned below by a current member. Not a current member? Well, last call to become one for a while, check out this thread.

Well I was against more riders but based on the amateur races I saw when I was in Puerto Rico last year that seems like a good place to look.
Not sure if Puerto Rico is counted as an independent cycling nation, in case it doesn't, I vote we go to the Dominican Republic. I am sure there are athletic kids who could never hit the curve ball but who honed their cycling talent riding to all those baseball practices. |

If Ulrich gets Puerto Rico I'll agree with Dominican Republic

I think the Schleck's, Yates', Haeno's, Feillu's, Quintana's etc. show that talent can be a genetic thing.
Therefore I think we should go back to the British Virgin Islands to see if Tajo has any talented Brothers or Cousins that we can sign up.

Alright. Along with my stop in Trinidad, I'll also look into Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands again. I'll be back to report on my findings soon, and Corey Reinhold will be looking after the team while I'm gone.

I'm back way quicker then expected. I didn't have much luck, but I do have four candidates to replace Tajo Sylvester as promised. They are:
Paz Lefay | Age 21 | Unknown | Wage: $0/month
Bio: The only guy in the region that would talk to us after the Kosmo Hay outburst. He is a mystery man that didn't have time for me to do a scouting report, but after talking with his family they attested to his quickness in dire situations.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | 69 | ? | ? | ? |
Barton Langdon | Age 19 | Lead-Out | Wage: $0/month
Bio: Spent last year in the U.S. military at the Fort Buchanan base in Puerto Rico. He was good at following orders and disciplined at training, but lacked motivation at times. So, now he is looking for something new to do.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 69 | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | 69 | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? |
James Reid | Age 22 | Punchuer | Wage: $0/month
Bio: Living near the top of the country's highest point on Pico Duarte provided ideal terrain to manufacture a decent cyclist. Well, Reid got lazy with age. Going down the hill is well and fun, but he usually tries to bum a ride to get back home.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | ? | ? | 66 | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | 69 | ? |
Umar Van Gorcum | Age 15 | All-Rounder | Wage: $0/month
Bio: Highly recommended from Tajo Sylvester. A childhood friend that was too sick for me to do a scouting report, but I chatted with Sylvester for a bit to get a feel for the type of rider he is. On paper he looks impressive, but I'm pretty sure Sylvester over-hyped his friend. By how much? Your guess is as good as mine.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | ? | 71 | 64 | ? | ? | ? | 68 | ? | 68 | 67 | ? | ? | ? |
Who is it going to be? Most votes in the next 24 hours joins the team.
Note: All votes will count.
Thanks = Lefay
Za(r)bel'd = Langdon
Good Idea = Reid
Thumbs Up = Van Gorcum

Langdon vs Van Gorcum. Tough. Both?

Langdon or Van Gorcum? Filling a Void [Part 2]!
It's never easy around here. We have another tie vote, this time it's between signing Barton Langdon or Umar Van Gorcum.
How to break the tie? Usually it's my decision, but that's seems a little overpowered in this situation, so I'll let the next member to post on this thread decide which cyclist we sign to fill the void left by Tajo Sylvester's departure.
First come, first serve for the first member who says which guy we should sign.

Sounds like Langdon struggles with motivation, so maybe it'd be best to take Sylvester's word on Van Gorcum, even if he was a little overhyped he sounds like he could be pretty good in the team.

Welcome aboard Umar Van Gorcum. One man leaves from the British Virgin Island and we get one back in return thanks to the final recommendation by trekbmc:

Van Gorcum should arrive in the next couple of days. Then we will get down to business with our training. Hard to believe our first professional CT races are just a couple weeks away. Time sure flies.
Hopefully the pressure of making the squad for either race will spark the cyclists to have a few good weeks of training to try and impress me. Fingers crossed.

Training and Internal Scouting!
It's crunch time. We leave for Europe in one week to compete in our first CT races.
Hopefully, the community can prepare us well enough so we can shine (or at least not embarrass ourselves). For reference, the current squad:
Everyone welcome Umar Van Gorcum to the squad. Looks like his buddy Tajo Sylvester over-hyped him a bit, but after doing his official scouting report yesterday once the flu was out of his system, I'm quite happy with what I saw.
You know the drill. First come, first serve. All cyclists available. Members only.
Results will be in the end of month review.
Overview: 1 Available This reveals the average of one cyclist.
Uncover: 3 Available This reveals one stat of one cyclist.
Donation: 3 Available This upgrades one stat of one cyclist.
Investment: 3 Available This upgrades one stat limit of one cyclist.
