@trek - Originally Venezuela-NZ Thanks and some people don't know what long-term means
@Shonak - Cheers, means a lot from a master of writing and layout Yeah perhaps contradicting but if we can slowly bring NZ up to be a bigger thing overall and not getting just outside top 10 in the world thanks to bewley and then Sergent and then much smaller contributions then I'll be very happy. Ultimate goals and very far away
@the_hoyle - Thanks a lot, all down to you And thanks, will shift everything forawrd a year

Nice HQ! Good luck with your perpetration for the new season, it's probably the most satisfying part of the game. And good luck with transfers! This sudden wave of CT NZ teams could make it a little difficult with an already small market.

@Eden - Gee, thanks Thanks again for the tips and good luck, we will certainly need a bit in this climate...
We are delighted today to announce the partnership between ______ Racing p/b Octagon and Wheelworks, a small company hand-crafting wheels in Lyall Bay, near Wellington. The official partnership lasts indefinitely with mutual termination possible at any time. Despite being a small business with just a smaller number of employees handcrafting wheels, they are about to hit the big time.
The partnership was a virtually a done deal from the first meeting between team GM Wynton Burns and Wheelworks owners. They are both projects of passion and when fused together combined perfectly to create an agreeable and exciting vision for this velo-venture.
The terms of the deal mean that each support the other, Wheelworks have a full-time job handcrafting individual wheels for each team member, and ______ Racing help provide the funds to turn this labour of love into a bigger business with more employees to keep the personal case-by-case customer service and the mainstream wheel providing for ______ Racing running smoothly with the same personal touch and flair that has become a trademark of the handmade beauties that has been there since the company started. Also in the mix is free Xero accounting software for Wheelworks and a small ownership of the team, which were agreed on personally after the deal was conducted.
No alterations to our race jersey have been made as they are more than a sponsor, and we will see how both the team and the partnership develops before commenting on the foreseeable future concerning sponsorship. For now, it's just beautiful wheels with a fine attention to detail and a shared love for the sport and the project.

The following is the truth thinly veiled with some role-play.
@The Rider - Sir, in the camp it's been the toughest of days but you provided me with a legitimate lol Yes, I woulnd't mind it at all if it came my way, would anyone in the CT ? Yes, will definitely need to look to the horizons a little bit whilst assembling my ban of misfits. Speaking of misfit:
I'm sorry to interrupt my tale of truth but the real truth is: There's something very pressing here. Our, former title sponsor, has stepped down after disagreements over who exactly let us use their money and likeness. Apparently my answer of "I don't know how to make my twitter account private", amongst other ramblings for not getting their question meaning right until actually writing this blog wasn't enough to salvage some cash. I have serious doubts over my ability to now run a cycling team.
Luckily nobody has stepped in.. wait... aw no. Unfortunately nobody has answered our call so I'm on the lookout for a new title sponsor ASAP, hopefully one that accommodates our jersey so a hasty colour change and sponsor placing keeps our look. Xero, making us almost the same, and Kiwibank, making it green, are both giving me indecisive maybes. Taste of my own medicine, says everyone.
So troubling times for, uhm, Octagon fans but never fear, because I'm sure our next sponsor relationship will be much more kordial.

@trekbmc - No...
@weirdskyfan - Changed, then
I'm afraid we've got xero other options but to look within our current sponsors for a new main sponsor. All our approaches were rejected and all the approaches made weren't up to scratch. So, in this case we're sticking to our current jersey but for a few sponsor changes (obviously) and we are proud to present, after discussing with our fanbase and to the absolute surprise of nobody:
Spoiler Xero Racing p/b Octagon
Yes, the light blue stays put but we're keeping your triangle design, damned ex.
More news to come as our HQ gets a makeover as soon as the new jersey and banners (and equipment, which wasn't ever presented) are presented and we get our focus firmly back to scheduling and goals. We thank you for your support and your help in finding us a new sponsor.

Well with a big cut of dough gone with our previous title sponsor we were on the lookout for another opportunity, and in an atypical (for us) slice of luck we found a sponsor who's idealism we agreed with and were ready to take us on.
My Food Bag is another hotshot emerging modern Kiwi company, an online food delivery service philosophising in “Eating food from the ground, sea or the sky. A sure-fire way to enjoy food the way nature intended, with less preservative, salts and a host of other artificial things. With recipes being focused on bringing natural ingredients forwards as the heroes”. We will help spread the word as they hope to develop this message with local (not always possible for us) and free-range produce. They signed on for two seasons and will provide some menu advice and of course food when we race at home or in Australia (depending on Location and availability).
We've signed on, too, with some equipment (made by the brilliant KenL) providers as well for other stuff, so stand by for that. We managed to make contact with our jersey maker, it's on hold for a while but happening, much like our goals.
Just joking, doing them now.

Here's the lovely helmets, designed for fit, aerodynamics, lightness and sex appeal. We just need Esteban Chaves or Vicenzo Nibali in one of these and the ladies (and gentlemen) will be queuing up...

"Xero Racing presented by Octagon is an exciting new project that I'll be heading next year. We've been granted a CT licence, so we can now look ahead to the future of our team and the excitement to come. I know many of you tonight are sceptics of the team and our vision. I'm here to tell you, there's no need for that." I started, taking notes from my cue cards. And my goodness, I was right. The scepticism hasn't died, but I could tell I'd got their attention. The hopeful people in the audience were slowly nodding, praying I wouldn't muck up. And not just this speech. This team.
"I am well aware we have two other Kiwi teams this year in the CT. I am well aware there are other African teams in the PCT and CT. And I am well aware that we aren't expected to come out dominant or have a large a chunk of the market as we'd have hoped. So, our racing goals for next season are to..."

Yes, we actually did something for ourselves rather than showing off someone else's work. I present:
Tom Scully
FLA | MON | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRL | 74 | 52 | 67 | 63 | 66 | 70 | 78 | 67 | 79 | 80 | 55 | 63 | 77 |
Scully joins the best Kiwi team ("an obvious choice") after being sacked by Jayco'z after asking for a bit too much. I don't personally see the problem with 210k, other than the MGUCI knocking on my door...
He's obviously a top sprinter who can look at long stage races and leader's jerseys with high recovery skills and being explosive against the clock. He aims to be the best in a tough competition, but will his leadout man give him the edge?
Simon Clarke
FLA | MON | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRL | 72 | 63 | 62 | 62 | 72 | 71 | 74 | 57 | 79 | 78 | 80 | 61 | 62 |
Simon Clarke (like a few other riders we signed) has rode for (now) Spotify-Haglofs and Jayco'z. We're not sure about last season though. Anyway, he's got the perfect skills to both leadout Scully and go for a few chances himself when he gets a shot. So we've sent them on a series of mate dates and bro bonding sessions, like riding on a motorbike downhill, since they're both pussies.
Also expect to see him up the road with a natural fighting spirit, and if he can haul himself over a speedbump if he catches the right break I make him favorite. I know, I'm biased. However you look at it, a bargain at 50k.
Marvain Tognama Kossouhorou
FLA | MON | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRL | 72 | 71 | 73 | 70 | 70 | 73 | 68 | 64 | 72 | 70 | 72 | 64 | 71 |
Powerhouse. Climber. Sprint Leadout. Fighting Spirit. An actual African we managed to buy. For 50k?! Yep the all-around deluxe CT domestique from the Central African republic is a selfless and generous man, but a ruthlessly loyal workhorse on the bike.
Timothy Gudsell
FLA | MON | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRL | 71 | 52 | 52 | 73 | 64 | 69 | 69 | 56 | 72 | 77 | 58 | 57 | 73 |
Despite never having ascended more than his doorstep without having a complete mental breakdown and screaming he wants to quit cycling/riding in the bus/going to his bedroom, Timothy has a lot of power and a connection to the guy behind him in our leadout train, Simon Clarke, having been with him in Sweden. He's a useful part of any TTT and of course has a vital role in Tom Scully's delivery to the line.
Ole Hirschlein
FLA | MON | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRL | 65 | 77 | 71 | 69 | 71 | 71 | 72 | 51 | 54 | 59 | 64 | 69 | 69 |
Ole Hirschlein, well, he could be a hero or a waste of 140k. He's got the skills to ascend like a CT god but does he have the TT power, the ability to not get dropped in the first 50km of a sprint stage or the ability to follow an attack from even Amadou Bakari up a hill? I'm not too sure.
Geremie Nzeke
FLA | MON | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRL | 67 | 72 | 76 | 61 | 72 | 67 | 67 | 63 | 66 | 68 | 75 | 74 | 63 |
Another African? What luck! Nzeke better live up to the expectations set by his wage, but he looks well-equipped. He's a very good puncheur to have at this level, and be it as a super-domestique or leader I'm sure he'll do what we expect of him. You can't keep him from attacking but unfortunately you can keep up with him with a bit of a slow acceleration.
