Better they throw their money into cycling than football.
No really it's not better that they throw their money at cycling, any rider or staff who signs on with the Bahrain project lack a basic moral compass and I wish them ZERO success and hope the money can buy them happiness and peace because they won't find it anywhere else. No excuses whatsoever for anyone to sign on with the Prince and his torturing ways
Yes of course. I think I may have been too cynical in that way. I agree and I'm sorry for people of Bahrain being ruled. I don't want to defend the Prince & the King either.
I just rather see someone spend a shit ton of money in promoting cycling through a professional team and support cycling in his own country, so his people use it as a way of transportation and exercise. Through that way, there may be possibility of a slow, small democrazation process too, helped by sport presumably.
However, as the filthy rich football system shows, Qatar and other countries have not progressed a bit. Perhaps cycling can. At least I rather see it being used this way than going into another money sink football club.

No improvement for Broeckx yet. I'm not a specialist, but shouldn't there be some progress after a few days?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Well how many UEFA Cup and Champions League titles did those sheik and russian crime lord funded clubs from England's premier league win in the last few years?
I totally agree with money being invested into cycling being good but that desert queen thinks himself an athlete and just wants to bask in a world tour team's sunlight. Just like Tinkoff only that he was at least funny at times.
Doubt that prince has any kind of humor. And also for how long will he like that toy? Maybe a year or two? That guy wants his team to win the TdF, you think Nibbles can pull that off again? I got my doubts, so sooner than later that sheik will get bored with his toy and stops funding it. And as that team will soley depend on his money, another team bites the dust.
I wish for more consistent teams such as AG2R or Etixx.
Sport never did promote democracy or anything. Sport functionaries like that naive story. In cold war era it was considered a competition of systems, west vs. east. Olympics in China or Russia just helped the IOC line their pockets with money and the local rulers were presented with a stage to celebrate themselves.
And promoting cycling in a country as Baharain as a means of transportation...
that country is so filthy rich that their regular means of transportation are Porsche and Bentley SUVs.
But what news I really wanted to comment on was that the UCI will be sending more personel to races to watch that their superb saftey protocals are followed by race organizers and motos.
Wonder how they'll do it. From the back of additional motos and cars?
Edit: Stromeon, what a great movie. Deserved an Oscar!

That probably means Suisse, Pologne, Olympics and Vuelta for Sergio. I bet thats what Sky wants, but Sergio himself has been adamant about the Tour, but is Sky too crowded? |

Broeckx has undergone a double surgery because the pressure on his brain became too big. Now he's held in an induced coma to allow his body to rest.
