Watched the last 10k, seemed like a very good stage with attacks all over the place on the last climb and a thrilling finale - once again good stage design giving us good racing. Slightly disappointed to see Amador lose some time, was secretly hoping after his good prologue he was going for GC as a Movistar no.2, but hopefully Valverde will let him off the leash at some point for some stage-hunting antics.

More often than not, those 2 things go hand in hand! |

Landa have actually said he had a bad day. Don't know how much we should read into that, it is after all the first day with proper hills + they just had a "rest day".
Anyway, we can conclude that it wasn't because of bad placement, that he was in trouble today.

Also I'm now more inclined to believe Valv.Piti. Dumoulin is throwing sand into the eyes of others if he says he is 'not going for the gc'. I don't buy it anymore.
I think they will crack him when they hit the real climbs, without the proper training in the high mountains that the other GC guys have done will show him up there

He had a bad day but didn't lose time which must be a good thing. Hopefully (for my velogames team ) he can ride himself into form over the next few days. His biggest problem is the long TT when he could really lose some time. |

Sunday he was involved in a crash. That might have something to do with yesterday's performance, or maybe he's just taking it slow and resting for other stages.

I read somewhere that he was hurt in the crash, but not badly - So instead of trying to keep up, but still being 9-10 minutes behind, he saves energy to help Kruijswijk... By saying that he will probably also be interested in going for a stagewin at some point.
