this is amazing. Another rider that Giro has introduced for me.

Yeah, it is so nice to have him in one of the leader jerseys. It's like the first time a Swedish rider does something in a GT since Kessiakoff won a stage during the 2012 Vuelta.

Other than Ludvigsson, Kessiakoff and Bäckstedt, have Sweden produced any other results in grand tours?[/quote]

Gösta Pettersson 3rd in 1970 as well.

For the past 3 days, all my post have literally been disliked by Waghlon and numerous others, while the counterargument havw been liked. Waghlon even told me that "if you say you don't like my posting style, I'm just gonna go ahead and dislike all your posts, hah!". If thats not childish, I don't know what is.

1) I have not "literallly disliked all your posts." That is a direct lie.

2) I have not said I would dislike all your posts. That is a direct lie.

3) If lying is not childish, I dont know what is.

I'm taking this to the admins now.

EDIT: And with that, I will now stick to on-topic posts in this thread. Sorry for feeding the troll.

1) Very close to

2) You directly told to me you would dislike my posts

3) I did not intend to lie or twist the truth, my excuses.

Go to the admins. Tell them how massive of a jerk I am for bringing forth an argument to remove the dislike/like buttons and use your posting-style as an example. You really, really took that one hard.

Gustav Larsson once was a decent time trialer, wouldn't be suprised if he got some results.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

He didn't. I checked before posting, and outside of him and the other three I mentioned, I can't remember any other Swedish pros Embarassed

Well, back in the 70s, Gösta Pettersson won the Giro and finished third in the Tour.

More recently, things have not been as good though. I guess you could mention Thomas Löfkvist's performance in the 2010 Tour. He finished 18th overall (officially 16th due to Contador and Menchov' disqualifications), and was with that Sky's best finisher in their first Tour de France. It's a little funny to look back at that now. Pfft

Hey, guys, I'm posting rarely anything but I am following the cite closely..
What's up with some of you ? Someone don't like your posts.. ? And...what ?
Stop overreacting for such a small things cuz it's really childish, you know ?
Just let the things go on, agree or disagree with in.. After all everyone has the right to tell his opinion and there's nothing wrong with this Smile.
Everybody has his ideas of an "perfect GC route" and the truth is NOT the route make the race, the riders does. Sometimes a completely dull road can make it for a great race.... and sometimes "amazing" road makes a bad race. For that matter if there was a crosswind in the weekend in NL it could've been "a true race".. but didn't happen.. it's a matter of luck (well.. weather)
Sorry for my bad english...and for the off topic but I just wanted to say this Smile.
I hope that someone can beat Kittel in the Giro.. but I highly doubt.

Niklas 'Swedish Lance Armstrong' Axelsson was 6th in the 1999 Giro.

Well when you look at the Swedish riders' results like this, it appears that we have actually done something in the last 15 years...

Spoiler
But then you realize that if a nation like Italy or Spain has a good day, it achieves all these results in a single day. Pfft

I remember Gustav..Saxo times. He was kick ass TT rider also demanded GC leader for Riis..but never had material for that.
Also Kessiakoff..I really hoped that he will be great on road. Started ok..but never ended as everyone expected.
Question for sweden members..why are norway cyclist have been more succesful. Tradition?..sport system?..

Not 100% sure, but money is a safe bet when it comes to Norway vs Sweden. Norway just allocates more money into sports then we do.

Noone mentioned Tommy Prim btw?! twice 2nd in Giro.

twice second because ferretti made him work for the italians on the team. he couldve won.

then the third time he made the same italians work for Prim instead. and prim sucked. finished 15th. it was funny

sven nilsson too was 3rd in the vuelta. and when i was a kid i remember magnusson beating cipollini in the giro a couple times
