What I want to be clear is that whichever team I do ride for in 2017, they would have to make winning the Tour de France a top priority. It doesn't matter if it's my team or one that's already created, it has to be a powerful squad that is going all out for the Tour and that factor will be what has the biggest effect on my decision where I sign. They've got to be as keen to win the Tour as I am.
No Contador for 100th Giro?
Ironically, the Tour might be the best bet for Contador next year. Lets see what Froome, Quintana and Aru decides to do |

I get your point but can I perhaps ignorantly ask where?
Not the News threads. Which are for News and facts (well, that's the theory). It's not like we havn't got a whole Cycling section full of related topics that can be revived.
That is not the answer to his question.
Contador riding two more years, wow, such a surprise, i mean Alberto has always spoken the truth and always stayed behind his word and now this.

We'll see. More competition should hopefully mean better racing and I'm for that. 100th Giro should be a clash and best way to guarantee that is to have Contador racing it. I doubt that Froome or Quintana will bother much tho, and from the interview it looks like Contador will solely focus on Tour win, no Giro ;(
Regardless of competition and excluding form-issue, given his track record, Contador would be the top dog in Italy 2017, he's just that good in this race.

If he gets well beaten at the Tour this year then it would almost make the 100th Giro a certainty for Contador

I will sit in a corner and cry for several years if none of Contador, Froome and Quintana participate in the 100th Giro

I think Froome could possibly go, if he gets beaten by Quintana in the TDF this year by a decent gap. |

You don't need those 3 for a great race to happen

True, you just need Contador.

True, you just need Contador. Indeed.Though Giro doesn't even need Contador to be a great race.Nibali,Aru and Landa can certainly do it along with Roglic and Zakarin next year assuming all peak for Il Giro and Roglic becoes the new Aru/Landa or maybe, new Contador
Though Contador mostly makes the races a lot better. |

What's all this hype surrounding Roglic?
He's a good climber and all, but it's not like he can be considered a possible surprise in the GC after a 2nd place in a prologue?

Cycling fans rarely make much sense. But I guess he's got sob story going for him, that's that. He's a lucky guy. If you come s.t. to one of best TT'ers in the world without ever producing a result anywhere close, you get slaughtered. Primoz must be just a charming guy.

Yeah well, when you are known as a climber and you suddenly TT like this, it isn't far fetched at all to think he will do a good GC. Top-10? Maybe too early, but he is in scary shape.. |

Indeed not, the Giro over the past few years has usually had the weakest field out of the three GTs and produced the best racing, and I have no doubt the 2017 Giro would do the same even if the best names were missing, but if ever there was an opportunity to see the very best riders in the world going head-to-head at a Giro, it would be next year and it would be a shame if none of the three above went for it (I'm assuming Nibali as no.4 on that list will go, being Italian and all that).

If Nibali is a smart man, he will be riding more Giro's and Vueltas than TDF's in his last prime years as a pro.
He is beaten by Quintana, Contador and Froome in the TDF. But he is still a lvl. above the rest of the competition GC whise. At least that's how I see it |

Plus, he has already won the Tour so there goes that motivation

Plus the fact that he was doing ski jumping only increases my fanboyism
So yeah,biased here |

Apparently since Gilbert is not resigning with BMC, BMC decided to fuck him up, no GTs this year for him, only small shitty races.
I guess he must have pissed them mightily with his wage requests
